Look at BF1,BF2(tanks,jets,jeeps), and other games you hardly ever see a server with mod maps on it. The only 2 mods that lead to success i know of are MB2 and Counter Strike. I mean if people would even play my mod i would actaully make one. Single player doesn't count. So my point is you'll need a server running 24/7 maybe more than 1 to succeed.

What are you talking about, the mods in BF1 were used sometimes more than the regular ones themselves, I think that one was called desert combat. that mod was very well done. And from whay I hear Gary's mod from HL 2 is very good. I had a lot of fun with mods from sim city 4 as well, I could virtually have every building in the world.

What are you talking about single player doesn't count? that is the whole reason I would want a mod for EAW, not to play online. To me they add to a games replay value, Modders are getting so good that you can't tell that it is a mod. Why do you think petro is doing it, they know more and more people are playing mods and more and more people are making them, so they want to make it as acessable as possible.

I had a lot of fun with mods from like sim city 4 as well, I could virtually have every building in the world.

Why wouldn't single player count? I play a heck of a lot more single player than I do multi-player due to the fact I've to drive 15 minutes to get to a location the has an acceptable connection. Single palyer modding is very important to me to keep game entertaining longer.

Play UT2k4, they've quite a few mod servers for things like Jailbreak and Gemfeeder. Also Starcraft and Warcraft have possibly more mod games going than regular games. The Battlefield series hasn't really been mod friendly for online play, Desert Combat was a major exception to this, but from what I understand EA is a bit of an ass when it comes to mod community support.

Another problem I find with mods is that they're made by fans. Somethings are incomplete, have various exploits, aren't balanced properly, and/or simply don't fit with the gameplay, so it doesn't bring the best multiplayer experience. Slaughtering helpless bots however is a different matter.

So you find a challenge in playing the same, old, predictable npcs over again instead of a unpredictable, diffirent, new player?

More so than playing a teamkiller or hack on online play.

Like swift, I enjoy single player mods more than multiplayer. And haven't you been listening mods make is so you aren't playing the same, old predictable npcs over and over.

Well, I kinda have to accept my situation... I live in the middle of nowhere and its a choice between 56k or satillite, AKA: non-gaming connections. I still like jumping online every once in awhile to frag a newbie or ten. Though I swear llama's (aka:lamers) are getting more numerous... I ran into 4 today when I jumped on BF2. TKing flamming SOB's...

Battlefield 1942 mods:

 Seriously I played Desert Combat and the extended version of it and it kicked rear and I played it for hours upon hours even tho I got owned couple times.

 I also played the Star wars mod for 1942 and its was slightly better and amazing and one time I owned my friend at it but he still is jealous :P Flying in EU ships and using EU stuff was actually pretty amazing but the AT-ST and AT-AT lacks tho since you can only do so much in a mod.

 Gundam mod, Not as great since it seems to be made by a newbie but it still was great to play. I tried other maps but "Crash" as usual.

BF Vietnam mods weren't that good and BF2 I haven't came in contact with.

Warcraft 3 mods or at least maps actually helped it live. Counter-Strike mods are good enough but zombie was sweet but got boring now.
