Guest JediIgor Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Why does the B-wing have an air scoop when it's a spacecraft? All Rebellion fighters are also perfectly suited to atmospheric combat.
Swiftdraw Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Yeah, but why would you need air intacts for a engine that doesn't require it? If anything it would hurt areodynamics in a atmosphere more than it would help it. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png

Why anything?
Swiftdraw Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Because Geogre Lucas, or whoever decided on ship design and physics is a friggin' moron.... I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
Deadeye31_pff Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 It oculd be a radiator or a bussard ramscoop like those from Star Trek ormaybe it's not the engine but the launcher for the bigger missiles it can carry.
Nevets Posted November 13, 2005 Author Posted November 13, 2005 Yeah, but why would you need air intacts for a engine that doesn't require it? If anything it would hurt areodynamics in a atmosphere more than it would help it. Who cares?
Zer_Teron Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Its Science Fiction, our physics dont apply in their Fic galaxy. http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3488/zersigef1.jpg
Foshjedi2004 Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 If you follow physics nothing exists as there is no such thing as matter or energy as in the beginning there was a singuilarity and nothing else. Suddenly there was a load of energy= doesn't work!! http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Gen.Vader Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 tch, dont explode fosh...jeez well its plausible, fantasy and it equals SCI FI!!! anything else needed? I've have you now - Lord Vader
Swiftdraw Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Ok, I'm going to leave it at this. Its a stupid design to have air intakes on a spacecraft, fictional physics and areodynamics be darned (I hate editing myself.) I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
AT-AP Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Those intakes only apply to when they're in an atmosphere, though. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a242/CptK/StarCruiser.jpg
Swiftdraw Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 But why would you need them on a engine that doesn't need air to run? I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
Foshjedi2004 Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 It uses air as a natural coolant. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Vader89 Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 I am really looking forward to your mod man, you guys are really talented. Good luck, keep the models coming! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e144/theairsniper/TAS-Userbar.jpghttp://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/Sharpshooter89720.pngYou Don't Know the Power of the Dark Side!Click for an EaW Countdown Timer!
Swiftdraw Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 It uses air as a natural coolant. .... I think in the futuristic setting they'd be able to develop something better than an air cooled engine. And given the extreme conditions space has to offer, air cooled engines are not an option, you'd need something more effective.. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
Avaris Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 uum. Air cooling doesn't work in places that have no air like space me thinks
General Ackbar Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Why does the B-wing have an air scoop when it's a spacecraft? rocket slots i beleive Its a trap! -Admiral Ackbar
Swiftdraw Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Now that makes sense! But their orientation to the engines and design makes me think air intakes. But a weapons slot seems more logical and cooler design wise. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
AT-AP Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Air cooling doesn't work in places that have no air like space me thinks The dispersal of energy in space is vastly greater than in atmospheres because of the low amount of particles in a vacuum. I believe that's also a reason for all the openings. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a242/CptK/StarCruiser.jpg
Megajames Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 B-wing maby not, there just replacements for the Y-wings, tie intercepters, definaly they empire needs some speedy units. Evacuate, in our moment of triumph. I think you overestimate their chances. Foshjedi2004 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Megajames jfyi the TIE Fighter is only marginally slower than the Interceptor. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Megajames Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 But in battlefrount II they are scouts, slow scouts but still scouts. Even so they are my fravorite tie. Foshjedi2004 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 No offence but BF2 sucks. It is not realistic. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Megajames Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I agree, but lets not discus that in this topic. Evacuate, in our moment of triumph. I think you overestimate their chances.
