Assuming the events surrounding Thrawn's untimely demise had never happened, and his plans had gone well. Would the New Republic have had a shadow of a chance at defeating him?

And if he hadn't died, what would the Yuzhaan Vong invasion have looked like? Would Thrawn have swept them aside like mere gnats, or would they have proven too strong even for the likes of him?

Currently waiting to get Age of Empires 3, Dawn of War, and Star Wars: Empire at War

If Thrawn's dimise didnt come to be, I think the New Republic would have been destroyed. But ONLY if the Noghri never found out about how the empire was tricking them. If the Noghri were his ally then he would have won hands down.

As far as the Vong invasion, I believe by that time the Empire would have been unstoppable. He would have massive clone armies at his command, that would even crush the vong. Because I believe if he lived he would create more spartii cloning cylinders and then make massive clone armies.

Thrawn would have United the Galaxy as never before, he would have stengthened the defenses and led the universe into a bright and glorious future.
