Lord_Revan_pff Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I was just on the star wars databank and happened to look under the Executor and saw that they finally changed its length from 12800 meters to 19000 meters! Im so glad they finally changed it.... so tired of people saying that its only 12.8km or sometimes even 5km. Now if only I can get to build an armada of them in EAW. *Drools*
Swiftdraw Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 It is still an over-rated class... Edit: When I mean class, I don't mean the super star destroyers in general. What I mean is the Excutor class SSD. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
Hadoken13 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 well it is a kinda pointless class it's got lots of guns but is only one ship the concentrated fire on it could be spread out against hundreds of isd1's and it would be more effective that way
Naja Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Bah. Tell me your shorts would remain unsoiled if you saw a 19 KM-long leviathan bristling with energy weapons, staring your planet down.
Swiftdraw Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Thats my main complaint right there. For it's size, the Executor class has very few guns. Yes, it numerically has more than your cut and dry ISD but they cover less of an area and can't concentrate their firepower as well. Though it's armor and shielding is fitting of a battleship, it's armermants are fitting for a battlecruiser. It may seem to have tons of fighters, but considering that the movie scaling shows that it's hanger bay can fit an entire ISD with ease it really doesn't hold that many (2 or 3 wings last I read, which is about 231 fighters.) Yeah, it also holds ground assault troops and two pre-con bases, but again its not that much considering the sheer size of the thing. They were primarly designed for fleet command and commincation, not a battlewagon. I'd hold more fear for the escorting fleet than the actual Executor class SSD. I much rather have the cost of 1 Executor divided up into multiple ISDs, its far more effective and efficient. In game, unless you get some nice little bonus for having one in a fleet, I will not be wasting my time or resources for a gaint ship with an equal large "SHOOT ME!!!" sign on it. The best outcome I can think of for a bonus-less Executor is that it would make for a very exspensive distraction for the enemy fleet while my actual fleet rips into them. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
Naja Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 But think of all the British accent-laden white males that an SSD employs.
Swiftdraw Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 If I want an SSD, I'd go for a Soveriegn of Eclipse. Probably the Eclipse because it comes with a throne room from which I can command from. But think of all the British accent-laden white males that an SSD employs. Great... A boat load of Fosh's. Just what I would want... Teradyn_pff Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 While all of the Rebel ships are concentrating their firepower on the SSD, wasting time due to its emmense armor and shields, the supporting fleet can destroy the attackers one by one and do so with impunity. Juggernaut1985 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I hate that databank, they say the Eclipse is the same size or less than the Executor when its twice the size(it has a freakin superlaser). That Databank is whack. Essentail Guide for Vehicles and Vessels all the way.

JanGaarni Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I hate that databank, they say the Eclipse is the same size or less than the Executor when its twice the size(it has a freakin superlaser). That Databank is whack. Essentail Guide for Vehicles and Vessels all the way.Reason for why the Eclipse was said is twice as large, is because it comes from the erronomous lenght value of the Executor that existed back then. The very first mention of the lenght of the Eclipse in km (around 17) is where we are introduced to it the first time. At that same time, most of the owrld had bought into WEG's (West End Games) bad research into the actual lenght of the Executor, believing it to be 8km long, or 5 times as great as an ISD. Like the movie poster said. Yes, I said movie poster. It seems they got the idea that the Executor was 5 times as long as an ISD from a poster for the ESB movie. The poster doesn't actually say it's 5 times longer, just that it is (over) 5 times greater than an ISD. Which could mean pretty much anything from lenght, mass, or firepower. Obviously, judging by the movies, they don't mean it's lenght. Anyway, as I was saying, since at the time the Eclipse was popular to have in the stories, the Executor was believed to be only less than half it's true size, later published works did not mentiong the Eclipse lenght in km, but in how much longer it was compared to the Executor, which is of course incorrect. However, while the Executor class may be longer, the Eclipse certaintly is larger volume-wise, and more powerfull, concidering the mini super laser it carries. You might even say the Eclipse is twice as large as the Executor still, without it meaning lenght-wise. Personally, the Essential Guide, while I find it usefull to read, is not known for it's accuracy in all things. Executor Class lenght is one such thing, the AT-AT height another. http://www.lfnetwork.com/images/lfnlinker.gifStar Wars: Empire at War.Net Moderator&SWGalaxies Moderator Co-Leader of The Affiliates! -A-- What we do in life, echoes in eternity!- May the pants be with you!
