TSKNF Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Star Trek: Federation at war Somebody probably will. Swiftdraw Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Most likely, even If its only to keep the Star Trek and Star War fan rivalry going. *In best geeky/snarky voice*"Our mod has is far supirior to the core game!!!"*Then sprouts some Klingon jibberish* I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
TSKNF Posted September 17, 2005 Author Posted September 17, 2005 Hey not all trekkies are like that. I'm a Trekkie-lite. Darkmark Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 It's a possibility. I saw one guy talking about it on a forim a while back. He was split between doing one set during the first 6 films (Fed vs Klings), the Cardassian war from Ds9, or a Enterprise E + Fed vs Borg one. I think he dropped it due to lack of support though We may have one. It just depends how many people out there would want to play one should one be made. I like to think if you can't speak Klingon, then you've yet to become something detrimental to society. I can't. I like Star Trek, know my stuff usually, but I 'aint gonna get that obsessed about it. TSKNF Posted September 17, 2005 Author Posted September 17, 2005 I agree, it's one thing to like a series, it's another to want to have klingon head-ridges surgicly implanted into your skull. I imagine one with six factions:-Federation-Dominion-Klingons-Romulans-Borg-Kazons "My doctor says I have a malformed public duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fibre and am therefore excused from saving universes"-Ford Prefecthttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/9513/bam7hn.gif
Foshjedi2004 Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I imagine one with loads: StarfleetKlingonsVulcansGornHydraOrion PiratesRomulansBorgCardassiansKazonsDominionBreenXindi hmmmmmmm. Something like Birth of the federation but a refitted research tree including more ships like the NX class and the Constitiution Class (aka Enterprise-NCC 1701) http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Swiftdraw Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Hmmmm... If the mod did come out I think I'd be the Electronic Arts faction, the borg. You know, the whole "resistance is futile" thing. That and they go around in big rubix cubes, how cool is that! I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png

Darkmark Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I personally liked the idea of the Fed vs Klingon confict of the first 6 movies. If we look at the game as a whole the gameplay comes quite close in terms of sides, makes it easy to make replacements of the sides. The only problem with that is the number of heroes there can be... There's unlikely to be more than 2 factions, unless they're much smaller than the EAW ones. Somehow I can't see this happening easily, since to add in new factions sounds a lot harder than simply adding units and changing planet names. TSKNF Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 Federation with alliance of klingons and romulans (later in the game) vs the dominion then. Darkmark Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 And that would work. Dominion would of course be Dominion/Cardassian Alliance... The war in DS9 basically. One major problem Trak fans have with EAW modding is the use of ground units. Sure, New Worlds had some tanks etc I guess you could model, but I can imagine major problems replacing some of the EAW units with Star Trek ones. Think how many true military ground tanks/machines we see in all the series... what would replace the AT-AT? the AT-ST? Tie Crawler? Only the infantry seem feasable. Many... many away teams... Little.B Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 If someone does create a Star Trek modification I hope he/they will include the Breen! They had shock troops and stuff anyway, so we could have hover tanks, photon torpedeo launchers..they're dying for a re-make of Birrth of the Federation anyway (the trek version of Rebellion.) Joshinator Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 BOTF was sweet. I hope they do a remake like they did with EaW. Next best case senario would be a mod. A dominion war mod would be sweet, or borg. The galaxy would fear my fleets of Galaxy-X cruisers and Definants! Mua'haha -You seem to have an over developed sence of vengeance. Foshjedi2004 Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I would have loads of Prometheus' and Sovereigns. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/scans/stmagazine/prometheus1.jpghttp://www.shiporama.org/Images/Sovereign/Sovpic.jpg http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Darkmark Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 If someone does create a Star Trek modification I hope he/they will include the Breen! I love these guys! A Cadassian/Dominion alliance wouldn't be complete without them. I think that from what people are saying they want a Trek set from DS9 onwards? That way you get the prometheus, soverigns, a decent war of what would appear to be 6 factions (reality just 2) with Fed/Kling?rom vs Card/Dom/Breen... with some Borg in there somewhere? Swiftdraw Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I want my EA faction!!! The Borg are so much cooler than anybody else, I mean their name is even cool. Say it with me now, Borg. Rolls right off the the tounge. It's single syllable name is far supirior to those multiple ones. Cardassian, wtf, thats 4 syllables. I'm a busy man, I've no time to enunciate 4 friggin' syllables. Even their name strikes fear into the hearts of everything. "0|-| |\|0z! 1+$ +|-|3 |}0|26!!!" See!?!?! I type it out the cries of fear normally and it comes out as Ultra-1337, thats how cool they are. It could be Borg vs. all and the Borg would still own. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
Foshjedi2004 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I would also like a Species 8472 faction!!! Damn they're a sweet race. They can't be assimilated at all!! http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Darkmark Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Borg and 8472 as neutral I was thinking. I mean, they don't fit in with any alliance really. I'm also well aware of restrictions I'm sure we're going to have imposed upon us concerning amount of individual races. Therefore I'm predicting that an overwrite of the Rebels and Empires with two 'groups' seems to be the best way to think about it as of yet until we learn more about what it is possible to mod in.
