Ideas for Mods for EaW

I'm not a modder, wish I was, I'll learn one day though I suppose before I die. I've got another 60 years to go I figure..ahem..onto the point..I've just been brainstorming some ideas really on what could be done for modifications to EaW. Keeping in mind that we dont really know if the two factions will be hardcoded into the game and thusly unchangable and no new factions are able to be added the scenarios I give will be designed solely for the purpose for a mod with two factions:

 

Wing Commander: Honestly now there arent enough mods for this game series, even though the games themselves were epic space sims in which you could actually win or lose a war. There havent been really many flightsims which allow you to lose a war just as quickly as you win it unless you die and then its a game over. Back to the point of the matter, there is a vast plethora of information concerning ships, dates, times, worlds(one game came with a map which detailed the jump routes from one planetary system to another..hundreds upon hundreds of planetary systems and the factions they fell under). The main crux of the storyline is simple, you have two sides, the Terran Confederation, and the Kilrathi Empire, have been at each others throats for some time..both of them are established however the Kilrathi have a slightly larger military..this would be a rather convential war based around the Carriers both sides put forth. There is a plethora of fighter and bomber craft, transports, destroyers, cruisers, even corvettes. And there are also superweapons for both sides. Definately something to keep in mind.

 

Space Above and Beyond

Now there has to be someone on this board who rememebrs this show. United Nations Government vs a race of aliens known only as the Chigs. Fighting on dozens upon dozens of worlds. Its the same as Wing Commander except the SAAB universe is smaller, the ground warfare is better mapped out but their isnt as much information about the ships other than the main Carrier for humanity. Everything else would have to be guessed. This would be a good idea for someone who is just scre wing about and wants to make their first mod(more than likely if I decide to throw my hat in the ring this will be it)

 

Any Babylon 5 War:

You cant help but be able to pluck a one on one conflict out of the B5 Universe. The Earth-Minbari War, the Earth-Dilgar Conflict, the Narn-Centauri War, the Earth Civil War. The list goes on for a bunch more conflicts but really now...from what we've seen of the graphics engine in pictures of EaW..I doubt there isnt one fan of B5 who wouldnt want a chance to recreate the Battle of the Line. Heck, I'd play a losing war as Earth just for that sole purpose/

 

There are of course others, the sky is really the limit for this game depending on the tools which are released for modification purposes..and in the end we can all dream, cant we?

Nobody would buy it just because its Star Trek :roll:

 

Well you could always make a mod about a civilization going from cave people to future tech :roll: If your civ or race grows in tech and wants to explore it could in EAW since theres 80 planets to chose from :roll:

For this you could just wait a full year until Spore comes out. Where you advance an entire species from one cell to an entire galactic empire spawning civilization of hundreds of worlds.

Make a real-time version of Masters of Orion or something. Have a race that is just gettting into deep space faring (humans make an obvious choice) and have it so they try to take on the galaxy militarly or diplomaticly. Though coming up with a good diplomatic system for a mod would be difficult. Also see if you can't create custom ship class or something in game.

Well how about this then Fosh, How about a hero unit is set in an arena map (Genosis) and then 1 killer bat comes in, you kill it with the hero, then 2 then 3 and so on until your hero dies from not using healing items or the force :roll: Maybe have 2 body guards units to help out just incase as a last wall of defence for you.

So geonosis. A massive Clone wars game. Like EAW and Republic Commando mixed together. You send down commando troops to a planet and then defeat the enemy and fight your way in space and on planets across the whole galaxy.
