I still have an FX5200. It's fine, but I can see myself heading for a 6600GT as the price drops. That's probably the most my computer can handle and actually make a difference with without having to upgrade my processor.

Well I just saw this "cheaper" but better card in the Futureshop flyer so tell me if this is any good?

GeForce FX 5500 Overclocked 256MB AGP Graphics Card. I mean will the difference be noticable or will it be the next block compared to the 5200 ?

I'll be upgrading for christmas but right now I've only got a GeForce4 MX440. So I managed to get the only GeForce4 that isn't Pixelshader compliant.

I doubt the graphics on EAW will push our machines much further then Generals would.

I'd say that the 5500 is next block. Is there any chance you can wait a bit and get either the Radeon 9600 or 9600XT (preferred)?

If you want the best gaming machine than I would say an alienware computer, the best desktop they have if you have the money to spare.

i would have to disagree with you there. my custom built $1,500 desktop prolly outpaces most alienware's, the sad part is they charge so much. with the specs my pc has, alienware woulld prolly try and sell it for $2,500 :\

AMD 64 3700+

ASUS A8N-E (dont buy SLI, its useless)

X800 GTO² (best card for its price, it can be overclocked easily and you get a 850xt)

Corsair value ram 2x512 (1Gb is enough 2 Gb is really pushing it too far, current games are fine with 1Gb, even FEAR and the like)

Thats the comp i've built today :) about 6200'ish score on 3DMARK 2005

I dont know about the rest of you but I'll be waiting till directX10 and the new windows is out before upgrading again. I need a whole new system since my motherboard dont have PCI-e, and a new motherboard wont take my current 2gig of ram. About the only thing I might be able to salvage is my old P4 EE 3.2(doutfull), HHD and CD/DVD drives. So much for future proofing.

Alienware is alright, this comp I have is from Alienware. Their tech support is great, even here in europe. Only bad side I can think of is their towers. They are massive, yet to see a computer desk it fits into. Mine is on the floor and I hate it, since the fans suck up all the dust etc. Also one of my fans sucked in the dust grating so i had to cover up the hole with tape and unplug the fan(grate was torn to shreds). Another thing is the ratteling of the side panels and doors. Maybe I just got a bad tower I dunno, but hopfully they have improved in the last two years since I'll be getting my next system from them.

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

It's in the "Graphics Driver" and then "GeForce and TNT2" and then click your operating system.  Finally click the go button and it will take you to the most current drivers available.
