Nevets Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 Sure it does, the Alliance has a history of stealing old or obsolete units from the Empire. A5 and A6 Juggernauts, ISP speeders, AT-PT walkers, Nebulon-B frigates and other ship-types. Stealing LAAT gunships fits in with their history. Yea but those ships for the most part don't have a large role in the Empire. I could still see the LAAT or an upgraded version as having a large role in the empire still. I can see them stealing some old ones from the clone wars, but if there was an upgraded version, which I'm sure there would be, it would be a little more powerful and in the empire's hands. I can also see the rebels having republic v-wings and ARC-170, but that is because the empire had more efficient ships to put in their place, the empire doesn't have that with the LAAT. They have the Sentinel for troop transport, but the LAAT is much more versatile.
JanGaarni Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 The Nebulon-B frigates was pretty new when they were stolen if memory serves me right. Of course, my memory is like a swiss cheese so. http://www.lfnetwork.com/images/lfnlinker.gifStar Wars: Empire at War.Net Moderator&SWGalaxies Moderator Co-Leader of The Affiliates! -A-- What we do in life, echoes in eternity!- May the pants be with you!

Jan you are correct. The Neb-Bs were new when a whole fleet of them defected to the Alliance. After that the Empire created the Modified Nebulon Frigates. More powerfull, better weapons, shields and Armor . http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg

It is little things like this that would make for great storyline tags for each ship in the game and make it more realistic that will probably not be in. The Nebulon frigates will probably be the same on each side. My Death Star is bigger than your Death Star!"The XML is strong with this one!"http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/0/teradyn.png
Foshjedi2004 Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 I doubt that the Empire will get the Nebulon-B as the screens seem to favor the larger more powerfull ships. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Teradyn_pff Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Well, the capital ship unit list is relatively small in my opinion, on a game of this scale. I wonder what percentage of the Empire avaliable ships we have seen so far. Grand Admiral Thrawn 889 Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 that it does they get any tech they can so the REbels using the Old tech makes sense. example: the Ship Garris Shrike has in the HAn SOlo Trilogy, is taken and converted by the Rebels. and the LAAT's and the SPHA-T's and the SPHM-T's were obsoleted by the AT-AT and other vehicles introduced by the Empire so it makes sense that the Rebels have control of them http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n292/Admiral_Antilles/Thrawncopy.jpghttp://img525.imageshack.us/img525/3269/pffuserbar2globalmodnx9.jpg I Support the Resistance!

AT-AP Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 SPHA-T's and the SPHM-T's were obsoleted by the AT-ATActually, the SPHA walkers are dedicated artillery units. AT-ATs are troop transports with artillery-level firepower (though they had to use "maximum firepower" to penetrate the generator on Hoth). Since the SPMA walkers are in the game on the Imperial side, they would serve the traditional artillery role, while the AT-ATs carry people around, engage other armored vehicles and do artillery-duty if need be. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a242/CptK/StarCruiser.jpg

Swiftdraw Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 No, but I think a change in tatics and strategy would have. I think the Empire went more for slow, brutal, and overwhelming power of heavy ground units over the quick troop insertion with heavy air support seeminly favored by the Old Republic in the movies. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
