DarthCycle Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 I'm a big fan of scifi in general, especially the military genre. I'm currently reading David Weber's Harrington series, and it's awesome. I'm at book 5 now, and already bought the next 3. I'm reading one a week. At this pace, I'll run out of reading material in no time. I also read the series he wrote with Steve White, which was also excellent by the way. What other authors are there for the military scifi genre? I've read (that I can think of):Orson Scott Card, Ender's seriesRobert Heinlein, starship trooperDan Simmon, Hyperion series (not pure military scifi but there is some)Around 30 star wars novels, best series definitively the Thrawn trilogy from Timothy Zahn What do you suggest I read next ? Things are not as they seem, nor are they otherwise
Foshjedi2004 Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 I would read some of Tom Clancy's books. Not military but some of the Jack Ryan Novels are quite fast and thrilling. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Stellar_Magic Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Well, for Sci-Fi Thrillers I'd go with Michael Crichton (sp?). For Military and Political Thrillers theres Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlum. For straight Sci-Fi go with the classics, Asimov and Clarke. Seewolf Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 mhh for sci fi i would say you should read Batteltech (Mechwarrior) there are about 50 books. The story is. 5 Nations fight against the others with the mighty Battelmechs ^^. Every book builds up to some other books. Others only plays in the BT universe. i read the books at the time when i have learned my job. And i waiting at the moment for the german translations of the EU from them. Why is English one of the most speaken languages? German is more better, it sounds better and i did unterstandt it ^^ but for you i will spoke english too, not good but you should unterstand me ^^ "Der Preis der Freiheit, ist ewige Wachsamkeit" Col.
