actually, the germans outnumbered the british for msot of the war, until about the last year. It'd be more sensible if you compared the empire to the russians and the rebels as the nazi's ^^

i wouldn't wanna see more then say,....50 capital ships battle at same time, it'd take the attention away from a good portion of it.

I like your analogy Jahled. However in WWI the German and the British Fleets were about equal. I equate the SW galaxy more on par with WWII, with the Rebel fleet being similar to the Germans and the Empire like the United Kingdom. While the Empire has a much larger fleet, it also has a lot more ground to protect and should have to spread out its ships in order to do so. The Rebels on the other hand have a smaller fleet but can do some real damage to the empire by attacking the gaps in the Empires protection.

Now as the game moves on I wouldn't mind seeing some truly large battles. However, I think the overall balance should reflect the Rebel need to employ hit in run tactics. As the Empire loses ground both sides can consolidate their fleets leading up to the huge battles that will most likely be game breakers, think Midway WWII.

One thing I hated about Rebellion was that when you did have a huge space battle with the AI, you usually steam rolled them, taking minimal losses. This allowed you to basically play mop up the rest of the game. I hope that Empire at War allows the AI of both sides to alternate between hit and run tactics and battlefleet engagements depending on the situation.

Cool post dude! Not much I can pick you up other than the main problem with Rebellion was the AI programing; or lack of it. For an experianced player it becomes predictable... though I believe Cain might have something to say about this with his rather woo Protectarite mod for the game: http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RgAFA3IV7gPt5gMpUaCjbgIjVt3PA3dCtY*Ei*aSd5tXpaxmIsByRldeGwxERjcIwpovHqcspzxXuhDK4Gbj84hCZWhpREqsQ3AIumgRCAc/wooyayr2d2.gif

..I still play the game... i'm hoping EaW results in it's evolution...

 The only things you can do to help the AI in Rebellion are this :

- Increase the ships speeds (*The AI makes alot of stupid moves so this helps him arrive faster to a place were it really counts)

- Decrease the maintenance costs for facilitys. (* It will build up to 12 on shypiards for example a planet)

- Put more diplomats especially for the Empire.

- Keep the initial ship stats

- ummmm .... and I forgeted about the rest. I moded Rebellion almost two years ago.

Make the Ai capital ships actaully attack the Capital ships before the fighters?

This is something i noticed, and it really hurt the comps, since all you have to do it order ur capital ships to tear up his, then play mop-up with the fighters.

Well the Ai for the Capital ships actually works off which ships wil hurt them the most. It also works off which ship has Characters, Troops and the most powerfull ship in the fleet. There are some ships which will always attack fighters as they have no chance against the larger capital ships. Yeah right, did you know that you can kill an ISD using only 4 Corellian Corvettes in surround position?? In EAW that probably will work as well. They will be able to take out weapons and shields all at once. Muhahahahahaha
