Darth_Rob Posted November 6, 2008 Author Posted November 6, 2008 Actually, I was referring to the animated series... Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! My Website http://fp.profiles.us.playstation.com/playstation/psn/pid/BigBadBob113.png
DarthTofu Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 (edited) lol- I finally bothered to watch two episodes tonight. It was... interesting. The acting is nothing special- in fact, it hurts from time to time. I mean, we have cutting-edge graphics and the like, yet somehow we can't get the voices to work properly. And some of the stuff was just stupid- like fifty fully-trained assault droids or whatever it was being incapable of hitting three or four clone troopers standing around without cover. That being said, it was visually very impressive. I just wish the plot weren't so weak. The use of land-based units to destroy space-based units in particular galled me; The firepower of a walker vs. the firepower of a capitol (capitol or capital?) ship, the ship can take and deal way more damage. So mixed opinions from me. Some good, some bad... the sort of show that I'll watch if it's on and nobody else is around, but that I won't record or go out of my way to watch. Edit: Oh, yeah- what's with the tacky narration? It comes across like the old World War II reports, and it doesn't really work. It's just too corny and tacky. It'd be like if the characters said "jeepers!" Sure, maybe it's a reference back to the time of the Last Great War (if you're optimistic enough to call it that), but it still doesn't work with today's society. Eagle Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Yeah, like mentioned, its ok for a tv show. Normally I tend to not watch any kind of tv shows. But I like this one. Ive just expected much worse and ended up surprised in a positive way. Yes, the graphics are sometimes awesome, but on the other hand those figures walk as stiff as puppets. I dont get that. Maybe its just a refference to cartoons, maybe they were just short in time to use motion capturing. Actually, I was referring to the animated series... Who cares at all?!
Eagle Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Like mentioned I do like the tv show somehow and would like to make cards for that scenario/story. So this is what I am working at the moment: Commando Bots http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/4978/botcommandostb2.png Grievous Flagship "Malevolence" http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/4119/malevolencecapalternatepc5.png Dunno how this ship is called. Its obviously of corellian design, but have seen on one site on the net that this kind of ship was called "Mandragor" class ship/freighter, whatever. If anybody knows its name that would be cool. http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/923/mandragorcaprebds3.png One thing I got in mind is that because this show plays in a time prior to the battle of Yavin things shouldnt be that hard and advanced. So ships should be much weaker, slower with a much lesser number of turrets and a much lower armour value. Same with fighters. For example IMO the "Malevolence" should be the only ship equipped with Ion cannons, because at that time they were kinda very new and thus also very rare. This ship is about as large as an SSD and because they maybe hadnt had that much yards which were able to manufactor such a kind of large ship it needs a lot of ressources and should be hard to be built. I will replace it with the "Death Star" card. Because of that also the factories and yards shouldnt be that effective and also much more expensive. While on the other side troops like the common Battledroids are much weaker, but cheaper to build. But they are that weak that they really shall just be a threat if appearing in large numbers. On the other side the Clone Troopers are much more expensive, but more effective than common droids, but shouldnt be that hard as Stormtroopers. Because their training and equipment isnt that advanced. Who cares at all?!
Stellar_Magic Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Well the stormtroopers lack the real combat experience the clones would be racking up in full scale engagement after engagement, and there's been hints that the Stormtroopers tended to have lower-quality training... not sure on that front. As for the Malevolence, ships classes are traditionally named after the first vessel of the type launched so the Malevolence is a Malevolence-class Star Cruiser (I say cruiser because its not nearly big enough to be a Battlecruiser or Dreadnaught). Did anyone else notice that there was a third Acclamator subclass visible in the background of the Malevolence battle, looked like an Acclamator with just a single primary thruster instead of the normal tail and cluster. Eagle Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 First hello and welcome back "oldtimer"! Hope you stick around here again and take part in our discussions we have everywhere here around the whole board. Thank you for your input. You may be right about that the Clone Troopers had much more experience than a Stormtrooper has, because they were engaged in constant battles. But my thought was that the Stormies are more advanced because they had advanced training based on the experiences they (those who are training or at least plan the trainig for Stormtroopers) won in the Clone Wars. They also had a more sophisticated weaponry and armour. Which had to be improved as we all could see in Episode III where all Clone Troopers weared other helmets than in Episode II. Did anyone else notice that there was a third Acclamator subclass visible in the background of the Malevolence battle, looked like an Acclamator with just a single primary thruster instead of the normal tail and cluster.Really? Got to check that again. Who cares at all?!
Darth_Rob Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Just wanted to add that the misses nephew is into the Clone Wars, and I was in charge of getting his Christmas gifts. He wanted figures, so I snagged an R2, Obi-Wan, and Grevious (most of the toys out now are based on the Clone Wars series.) I also snagged him a classic shirt with Chewie on it. Good stuff. SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted November 24, 2008 SWR Staff - Executive Posted November 24, 2008 Don't know if anyone has watched the latest episode of the TV showJar Jar again? DarthTofu Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I saw a snippet of the episode "Bombad Jedi" and promptly vomited a little bit in my mouth. Granted, I think that had a little bit more to do with my massive coughing fit, but all the same, I like to think Jar Jar caused it. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Darth_Rob Posted November 24, 2008 Author Posted November 24, 2008 I dont think Id ever want to see Jar Jar animated. I mean, everyone else looks odd enough...throwing him in it just...unnecessary. Eagle Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Well this episode could have been far worse, isnt it. My favorite scene were the droids saying roger, roger altogether. They spoofed themselves. Jar Jar is a typical cartoon-character and thats why he can be in a cartoon series and doesnt belong in any Star Wars movie! I hope this was the only epsiode which featured him. I still like this series quite well. Since yesterday its also shown on german television, in german dub of course. But I hope that all these fart jokes stop appearing in this series. Who cares at all?!

Eagle Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Thanks, mate. But I cant watch it here on the other side of the ocean. Can somebody tell me the exact title of that clip so I could search it on google-video? Who cares at all?!
DarthTofu Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2Ca9Jk8GvI on YouTube. It's in segments. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Eagle Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Whaaaat???! This is Robot Chicken Star Wars Special Part 2 and nobody posted it anywhere??!!! That whole series belongs to this thread, my oh my! Who cares at all?!
Eagle Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Loved the lightsaber fights in the last episode. They were jumping around as wildly as the jedis did in Ep 2 and 3. But that kind of action does fit more to a cartoon than into a conventional movie with real actors and that makes the difference. I still do enjoy this series like I do enjoy a good cartoon show. Who cares at all?!
DarthTofu Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 This stuff is just too dumbed-down for me. Everything makes me think "you know, if I were ten, I would totally think this was awesome... but I'm not." 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
DarthTex Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 "you know, if I were ten, I would totally think this was awesome... but I'm not."Since when? Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
Eagle Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 LoL! The reason why I love this cartoon could be that when I was 10 years old there was no such series on tv. All we had was Captain Future. Mads french swiss people and the italian swiss people were a bit more lucky. They had and Once upon a time in space which both had much more action than Captain Future ever had. CF was more focused on science and mystical things which were actually also very cool but often also a bit boring. Who cares at all?!
Krytos Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Well, I saw this a little while ago - and, to be honest, I kinda liked it. Not all of it, there are plenty of cringe worthy moments - such as the droid's IQ dropping. But over all, I'm tempted to watch it again for a simple, fun Star Wars. All most like reading a comic book. Funny thing is, I'm sitting down and watching another Clone Wars Animated Episode where R2 has gone missing during a battle. Kinda jogged my memory. http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
Krytos Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Argh, so much for each episode having something worth while. This one is following Padme and .... *shudders* Jar Jar. To put simply, it was a really bad episode. Really bad. http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
