DarthTofu Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Okay, so here's what this all boils down to: I bought the Best of PC pack for Star Wars games back in, like, 2006, 2007, and I love some of the games that came on there. Actually, that's a lie- the only one I still play off of there is Jedi Outcast, and that's only because I enjoy lobbing off stormies' heads. Anyway, I never tried out Republic Commando, and now I want to. The only issue is that I can't find the freaking CD key. It says that it's on the box when I try to install, but it isn't. Or, at least, I can't find it on the box. Anybody else have BoPC and know where I should search for my CD key? 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Bill Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 open up the republic commando cd, and it should be on the inside cover. The force is strong in my family. No, Luke, I am your father.
Krytos Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 The CD Key is often on the back of a manual for the game, or possibly the CD case - reading some threads online it sounds like the manual might be on the inside of the CD, where the CD cover goes and this where the CD Key should be for Commando. If not, maybe try LucasForums or whatever they're called - possibly look for a place that still sells the bundle and ask them? http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
Guest Scathane Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I bought it two weeks ago for a mere 17 euros... My copy carries the key codes on the back of the inside booklet. But lemme guess: you can't find that either... Anyway, why you should want to play Republic Commando is beyond me...
Krytos Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Anyway, why you should want to play Republic Commando is beyond me... Really? I played the demo and really liked it - I've been meaning to get the game for a long time now.The biggest complaint I've heard about the game was its length - or lack there of. http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif

But lemme guess: you can't find that either... Anyway, why you should want to play Republic Commando is beyond me... I've heard good things about the game- plus I actually have it, so I see no real reason not to play something that is essentially free to play. My only issue is my lack of booklet. Now that I think about it, I do remember it being on the back of that booklet. Ironically enough, I loaned the booklet to my friend, who is out of town, along with the disk for Republic Commando a while ago. I got the disk back, but not the booklet. Really should have gotten the booklet back from him. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Guest Scathane Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Maybe I should give it a try again... BTW, what would you deem the best game in the box?
DarthTofu Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 JKII: Jedi Outcast. KOTOR is also a great one, but I like killing people with JKII better, just because of the cheats. While playing Jedi Knight II press shift and the "~" key at the same time. This will bring up a menu. Enter "helpusobi 1" and hit enter. This will enable cheats. Enter "god" to turn on god mode. Enter "g_saberrealisticcombat 20" to have a ton of fun with your lightsaber. Thank me later. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Eagle Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I liked the team-action with bots in Republic Comando. But I found the enemies quite boring. All the time youre meeting the same guys, battledroids or Trandoshians. Who cares at all?!
Moribundus Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Anyway, why you should want to play Republic Commando is beyond me... I consider Republic Commando one of the best SW games I've ever played. It was probably the team "management" and the fast paced action that appealed to me the most and even though the SP campaign could really be longer, I found it quite satisfying (great ending, good levels, pacing, perfect difficulty curve, etc.) And did I mention the awesomeness of it's soundtrack? I've never tried the multiplayer though. But then my tastes are sometimes pretty weird However if you haven't played it yet, you should definitely give it a try. -rebellion2 enthusiast-Terra Reconstructed
DarthTofu Posted July 25, 2008 Author Posted July 25, 2008 Battlefront is a great game... on a console. On the PC, I didn't really think it was anything special. I dropped in, blasted my way through the campaign for a while, and fell asleep. I thought it was pretty lame, but that could just be because I never went online to play. My friend gave me the PS2 version of it for Christmas, though, and it was a blast. Somehow the PS2 controller makes the game feel smoother and better, and you really get the feeling that you're fighting hard for each inch of the battlefront. Battlefront 2 was, as you might imagine, even better. I'm borrowing that one- and have been for the past few months. Fortunately my friend has told me that he doesn't want it back any time soon, because it's addicting as hell. Bad news on the code front: My friend thinks he gave me the manual, and I have no clue where I would have put said manual. Thus I'm still short a code. Think I should call up Lucasarts to try to prove to them that I did, in fact, buy the BoPC pack, but that I lost my code? 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away

Well, give your room a good, thorough once over and then if no lukc sit down and give a good think to any possible location, in a CD pile, in a book, under something, might have gotten thrown in with another game or game box etc.All else fails give Lucas or whoever a shot. I've never heard anything good or easy coming from a company when you're asking for a CD key, so I'd probably leave that as a last ditch effort.Still no luck? Keep bloody looking! http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
DarthTofu Posted July 25, 2008 Author Posted July 25, 2008 X-wing!!!!(oh dear, I'm getting old) We were talking Best of PC 2006, I think, but X-wing was still in best of PC 1996, I think. I remember playing it and thinking that it was the most awesome thing ever at the time. In fact, I still think that was one of the most awesome games ever. Had it featured TIE Fighter's ability to see how damaged your enemy's shield/hull was, it would be golden. We really need another flight simulator game for the PC. It's high time the joystick made a comeback! 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Guest Scathane Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 I'm trying Battlefront as well but I can imagine how someone would fall asleep. I think the game lacks a story line....

It's high time the joystick made a comeback!I fear that this is a no go since Larry Holland left. Cant imaging how another controller configuration could make Battlefront more exciting. Battlefront is nice but its fast-food IMO. Also never played it online. Not sure if there are any servers left. Who cares at all?!
Guest Scathane Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Well, the good thing about BoPC is that it carries 5 games, so I jumped on to a revival of Jedi Outcast... Still a very nice game indeed...
Guest Scathane Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Thank me later. I think this classifies as later: thank you, Tofu!
DarthTofu Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 Are you having fun lobbing off heads and the like, Scath? It's the whole reason I still play that game whenever I get bored and have nothing better to do. I've played the whole thing through on hard strictly for the sake of killing more Reborn on the penultimate level a couple of dozen times than I would otherwise get. It's so much fun! On a side note: I've reinstalled KOTOR I, and I'm playing it through on the dark side this time, just because the Dark Side has so many powers that are more fun to use. Anyone have an mod suggestions to make? 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
