We are the Dead. Short days agoWe lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,Loved, and were loved, and now we lieIn Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe:To you from failing hands we throwThe torch; be yours to hold it high.If ye break faith with us who dieWe shall not sleep, though poppies growIn Flanders fields. — John McCrae Post your Rememberance Day stuff guys. (Or whatever holiday your country has.) EDIT: ARRGH! We only had two fighter jets available for the Flyover durring the cerimonies at the Capital. Edited November 11, 2007 by Defender_16
Mad78 Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 We don't have a holiday for that here. Switzerland didn't participate (officially) in any of the two World Wars. But I do wear a poppy to commemorate. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 EDIT: ARRGH! We only had two fighter jets available for the Flyover durring the cerimonies at the Capital. That sounds about right. That'd be about ten percent of our Air Force right there. I've been pestering people for the past two weeks to get their poppies on; it's really quite sad how few people care about this. I think I've lost four poppies so far, but I don't mind donating $8 to our veterans. This is an offical list of all of Canada's Victoria Cross winners, the highest military medal in most Commonwealth countries. I'm actually surprised at how few people there are on that list. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 The link doesn't seem to work. Hmm, it seems to work alright for me. Are you sure you're not having link issues again? Aenivae_Ikeda Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Actually I wrote a poem for today, so here's my little effort to appreciate life. Lost in eleven, and seven more. With a million men gone to war.Dead of gangrene, and mustard gasMoved to mourn in solemn laughsFor scores of ten fed to crimson mass To whom and for the bells are tolledOn blooming wastes of poppy springThe shells and bells conspire to singA note en death in treble clef. "I saw the greatest minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving, hysterical, naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix." -Allen Ginnsberg, "Howl"

Eagle Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 That´s a really great idea to remember all those who fought and died, so we can live that way we do right now. Sadly over here there´s not such a thing, even not on tv. Today it´s the beginning of carnival again (11.11.xx 11.11 pm every year) and people rather think of that. @AeniveaNice poem! You may haven´t recognised this, don´t you?! Who cares at all?!
