x_boxgamer88 Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I just finished a beefy version of the Corellian Corvette in G-max but I will need help setting it up for SW-Rebellion. PS. if someone knows how to take a picture in G-max, please tell me so I can give you guys a preview.
DarthTex Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Welcome to the forums x...88. I see you've been a member for awhile, and this is your first post If Mad or Krytos don't reply soon, I'd suggest sending them a PM. I don't know how to do this stuff and I'm sure they can help you, somehow. Good Luck and happy posting Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
x_boxgamer88 Posted August 12, 2007 Author Posted August 12, 2007 I guess having my first post anouncing a new model isn't such a bad start
Krytos Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 G'day X_boxgamer88 ... yeah, I'm going to follow Tex's lead.G'day x_88 I'm a little under the weather today, so I'll answer as best I can.First question: Gmax is a free, stripped out version of 3d Studio Max 4. One of the main things removed from Gmax is its ability to render images - this meant that the program was only capable of modelling (and maybe animate?). To get an image from Gmax you'd either have to find a free rendering engine - there are some, but none jump to mind.Or, the old faithful, screenshot button and pasting into paint or a better graphics suite (preferably something that allows JPEG compression with control - unlike Paint). From there, you'd need to host the images on some website to post them here. I, personally, use Imageshack - but feel free to use whatever you like. As for the more complicated mater of getting those blasted models into Rebellion, well I'll link you to here: Model download pageThere are numerous files to download there relating to modelling and importing into Rebellion. The main things to get would be the model exchange tutorial (get both version 1 and 2 ... I think you might need them both), the addendum is a modelling guide I think. Also, make sure you get the Model Importer program. They're all the first few items. Now, if memory serves me right you'll need yet another program! It's called Resource Hacker - and basically allows you (or more importantly the model importer) to edit files within Rebellion. With everything at hand, the main thing to do is to read the instructions carefully - then read them again http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
x_boxgamer88 Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z307/x_boxgamer88/front.jpghttp://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z307/x_boxgamer88/detail.jpghttp://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z307/x_boxgamer88/bottom.jpghttp://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z307/x_boxgamer88/back.jpg I'm going to re-texture and reduce polygons(about 12000) but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
x_boxgamer88 Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z307/x_boxgamer88/front_3.jpg I reshaped the front viewport so that it more accurately depicts the real CV-90's bridge. You can also see the Intergrated ION cannon just below it. This ship is a modified Blockade Runner for smugglers, it has: 12 heavy quads, a partialy hidden intergrated Ion cannon(big ), and 16 hidden torpedo launchers(that sadly can't be used in SWR). In SWR it will be able to carry 1 troop regement. It can handle most fighters and can disable ships quite easily, anything too big it can usually outrun.
x_boxgamer88 Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 After a quickly going on a polygon purge I have reduced the polygons to 9655polys. I will reduce a bit more before trying to import.

Krytos Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Good work! What's the poly count on that fella? http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
x_boxgamer88 Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 9655 polygons, until I reduce it further.
DevonSomes Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 It's a monstrous cross of a Star Destroyer and a Corellian Corvette! Man the Corellians finally got something on steroids... Ah... someone else said the steroids comment before I got a chance too! I kind of like it though. How long is it exactly? What do you mean they blew up the death star?!?Well's who's they?!? What the hell is an Aluminum Falcon?!?
x_boxgamer88 Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 It is the same length as a regular Blockade Runner(once I can resize in SWR), these are some other differences: -Signifigantly wider. -Docking rings have been brought forward to the middle of the main body. -Weapons have been completly changed.(see one of the previous posts) -Reinforced engine assembly. I think that's about it. I was lucky enough to find some very accurate schematics of the original Tantive IV at: http://deckplans.00sf.com/Marincic/Marincic.html
