Star Wars Conversion for Freespace 2 Open

Hello guys. I'm a big rebellion fan and i finally found this place (played Rebellion Reloaded for a bit) and i got to lurking the forums and saw a bunch of people dissatisfied with the Star Wars space sim situation.

 

Well, I'm not claiming to have the answer to all your problems yet, but i do have something you might find interesting.

 

I'm a modeller/texturer for the Star Wars Conversion for Freespace 2 Open, and i think you guys might like what we're doing.

 

see, we have one major leg-up on the XWAU project, in that the FS2_Open engine is Open Source, and graphically modernized (almost). Also, that same open source nature is what is going to let us customize gameplay to whatever we need it to be.

 

 

the big focus of the mod is accuracy. models will be scaled properly, have the proper amounts of weapons, missiles, shield strength and the like.

 

yes, that means our ISD2 will have 100 firing turbolasers.

 

the focus on the mod is from just before ANH to just after the Hand of Thrawn Duology and Survivors Quest. we consider the whole Vong situation to be retarded, and we hate what lucas did with the prequels, but we love the Thrawn books and the X-wing series (we intend to make the x-wing series into a campaign).

 

 

basically, we aim to be the next-gen flight sim that lucasarts seems reluctant to produce.

 

the project is currently in the WIP stage. we're building up our ship list, and making great progress at it too.

The ships look impressive (although a tad LARGE, reducing to 1/3rd would be better, or thumbnails). I definitely like the last; the screen shot.

Post a couple more of those (the smaller version ).
