Can Vader absorb/deflect Force Lightning?

I still like to think Vader can absorb/deflect lightning. Maybe Palpatine's was too much, maybe Vader was too weak or not focused enough to pull the stunt off. Or, maybe Lucas just needed Vader to die and that was the most dramatic way to write him off.

I guess Palpy was thinking forward, when placing Anakin in his new suit. Well protected against projectiles, but against his master he was woulnerable
