Scrubs is an awesome serious on many levels - feeding both the inner child who wants the easy laughs, as well as the more mature (if it exists  )

And there are still people who believe all these politicians and managers who want to tell us that nuclear-power is a clean-energy!

Nuclear power is clean energy, from a certain point of view

At least nuclear fusion, provided we can make it work

... but some man-made chemicals only disappear after 200.000 years and nuclear-waste can remain deadly for up to two million years.

Well, technically it is clean.. if you ignore the nuclear waste.. heh.. same thing goes with Hydrogen Power.. its only clean if you ignore the waste... (what most people havent been told or know is that the membranes used in a PEM fuel cell collect waste which is actually quite toxic, and the membranes have to be replaced periodically.... 8O )

and speaking of scrubs.. this one just rocks.. solely due to the background music

That´s exactly what I´m talking about all the time. ;) And what´s up to the nuclear-waste. Well, we throw it in a deep hole and hope that it will never come up again, but who knows. They thought about to use an old salt-mine here in my region for that purpose. Luckily they found that this mine wouldn´t be the perfect choice. I also have to mention that we´re living in an earthquake-area here. Not to think of when a big one comes and the mine is collapsing. :roll:8O

There is an discussion here in germany about to stop using nuclear-energy at all. But the industry and some related politicians rather want to keep some older plants, which soon should have been switched off, to run longer for profit-reasons, allthough these plants are useless and some even don´t run on full capacity.

Who cares at all?!

At least nuclear fusion, provided we can make it work

I seem to remember a couple of scientists claiming to have created a fusion reaction a couple of years ago, only to be unable to repeat the process under scientific scrutiny, but fusion is the world's wet dream, and not far away I reckon. Our reliance on oil has got daft.

I'm not going to go off on one, but it's exploitation of our environment is simply to damaging for it to continue much longer, without even mentioning the influence Saudi Arabian oil wealth is investing in Muslim lunatics the world over, be it 'harmlessly' in religious investment, our collective reliance on oil is generating. Their were only two regimes in the world that had diplomatic ties with the Taliban in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Speaks volumes about the current brand of Islam attacking civilization, like 9/11, the Iraqi insurgency, bomb attacks in Spain and London, the murder of German tourists in Egypt. *sigh*

I still prefer wind or solar power. Clean and efficient.

Not at this stage, and I wonder if it will ever will be, to fuel our ever energy demanding economies, fella!

For the present, Nuclear power is our best option, the cleaner option will materialize, in all of our lifetimes I reckon given the incredible breakthroughs in science that are happening now, and a way to get all our nuclear waste will be found to deposit it into space, we are currently putting underground; ever the optimist me! :)

That might have been the yea-who's who claimed they've found "cold fusion"

I swear that Mad said that :?

Once "fusion" is perfected (the hot or cold kind), the next big push will be anti-matter 8) I optimize with you J  (kind of rubs my cynical nature the wrong way though  )

If the risks could be minimized, I wonder what, if anything, would really happen if nuclear waste was sent to the sun :? Maybe a "deposit" of raw materials for the (locally) ultimate fusion reactor? :?:

personally.... i think that we're all kinda screwed for the next 50 to 100 years or so... the energy crisis is just getting worse and there is no real "clean" solution yet... i mean.. i can just see what will happen when we start with fusion... some containment field will fail.. and whamo! we've got an out of control sun located in the middle of the Mohavi Desert.. (or wherever they would try to "safely" test it).. and the heat given off by said artificial sun will start melting anything within a 1000 mile radius!! (okay okay.. so I'm just being a doom sayer.. and being all pesimist and shtuff.. but you know that is going to be the fear someday...) in reality i dont believe in being scared of new things... technologically speaking.. but there are going to be opponents of fusion for that reason im sure... or something like that.....

It´s that special day of the year again and I still have that bad feeling about it. All victims of 911: R.I.P.!

R.I.P indeed.

It makes me glum some of you guys in the States don't seem to have grasped the connection. To quote:

"By paying for thousands of schools, mosques and trained imams, they dispersed the ideas of one reactionary little preacher to every continent. It has been a corporate strategy that leaves Ronald McDonald looking like a puffing, obese slouch. Slowly, steadily, they are succeeding in eroding other, gentler forms of Islam. They are globalising Wahhabism - and your petrol purchases are paying for it."

Very plain and simple.

As I said last year on this day, I whole-heartedly hope that this day is never forgotten. Unfortunately it already really is; there was no form of memorial, really, beyond a request that the student body wear red, white, and blue. There was a brief news snipit, but that was it.

Old news and such, I guess. The thing that still gets me about that, though, is a woman in the postal service given a Congressional Medal of Freedom for going through the mail in the New York postal system and issuing a reply to ever person's correspondences who had perished in the terrorist act...

@Mad

What´s up with that tennis-link?

I think its supposed to work so that as you move the mouse to the left and the right of the screen, the cursor becomes the tennis ball. It's like one of those "to keep an idiot busy, read other side" shirts, where that is written on both sides of the shirt.

So my gf and I were walking down the street today, when we came across a fooseball table. I said, "man, that would be cool to have in my apartment", and sure enough, as we neared it, I saw the "for free" sign on it. I was sold. We grabbed it and lugged it back to my apartment and popped it in the living room. Upon further inspection, I found that it has other surfaces hidden under the fooseball table, which are made for things like air hockey, billards, basketball, and other stuff. It was the coolest thing I ever found! Below are some pics of it.

Fooseball

Ping Pong

Air Hockey

Pool/Billards (whatever you call it)

Basketball/Skeeball (I just have to find some poles to attach it with)
