So I saw the film yesterday.

It was very, very good. Better than I expected. It was definietly fictionalized, but there were a lot of historical truth about Spartan lifestyle ; with the kids being taken at the age of 7 to begin training, and the women seeing that one of their main goals of life was to bear strong children and other stuff. One of the neatest quotes was when the king goes off to lead the army, and his wife says "come back with your shield or on it", which was her way of saying to either win the battle or die. The most fictionalization comes into play with the Persian army, where a few of them appear to be monsters and mutants.

I highly recommend the film. It was a very, very good "epic war" film, and certainitly surpasses "Troy", "Kingdom of Heavan", and "Alexander" and others. GO SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I plan to buy a ticket for some other movie and then go sneak into 300... A bunch of Latin geeks and other friends said that they'd be doing the same... Only problem is that the theater does ID checks for some of the more popular movies out there... Hmm...

Ah, well. That's why you bring a sweatshirt, but don't wear it. They can come and check your ticket and all that, but they go to get backup if they're going to shove you out. Change your seat, put on the sweatshirt with the hood up, etc. and they'll be at something of a loss.

i saw it twice over the weekend... absolutely fantastic movie.. one of the best I've seen in awhile. and yea.. you have to be 17 to buy a ticket for a rated R movie.. or accompanied by a parent or guardian... your brother cant even buy the ticket for you (i tried that when I was 16 long ago).. its kinda stupid.. but it has its purposes... i guess.. but back to 300.... absolutely fantastic.. the movie gives the "historical" story in such a way as to not make the movie boring.. quite genius really.. the "politcal" parts last only long enough to update you on the story and then you are flashed back to the battle quick enough not to get bored... it was quite perfect timing in my opinion..

I agree. My only complaint was that the theatre was crowded, so I was stuck next to some random guy who had to clap about every 5 minutes. Whenever someone got stabbed or said something powerful, this guy would shout "yeah!" and proceed to clap about 5 or 6 times. I had a hard time not laughing at him, though my girlfriend couldn't control herself. It was quite amusing but annoying at the same time.

Thank goodness sitting next to such a person has never happened to me.

The funny part is that back in my highschool days that could have very well been me. My friend and I used to be very disruptive at the movies...so much so that eventually our girlfriends were embarressed to sit next to us, so we had to sit in different aisles far away from them.

That's me...

Just minus the girlfriend bit, presently

Pissed the hell out of some guy in the movie Ghost Rider talking to my friend and making fun of it the whole way through. Did the same thing during Casino Royale. If the movie is good I won't make fun of it, but more often than not I will... I'm presently the only person who hasn't seen the movie on my whole island, I think...

One of the best was we did was when we saw something and there was a trailer for RotS, so when Mace Windu came on, I said "hey isnt that Denzel Washington?" and this black guy next to me turns to me and says "that aint Denzel Washington! That' Samuel L. Jackson." And then the next trailer there was some other black actor (it was either Denzel Washington or Morgan Freeman) so I said "hey isn't that Samuel L Jackson?" and the guy turned to me and yelled at me again, correcting me. Then some other trailer for a horror/suspense movie came on, and at some freaky part my friend shouts out "oh shit!" and the guy next to me says "where?!". That was the best.

Incidentally, according to a book that lurks in my bathroom that is read in the bath, a Spartan king was once fined for marrying a short woman and subsequently producing 'kinglets,' as they were described at the time..

Heh- gotta love webcomics! I personally stole from the movie to get some publicity when I ran for a school leadership position. A picture of the king with the words "TONIGHT WE VOTE FOR {Tofu's real name}!" in bloody red letters. Always fun :P
