How do I put them in?

Hello, everyone, I am a newbie, and as a newbie it is my right to march in and ask a stupid question which I find to be quite serious. The questions are:

I recently downloaded the Eclipse SSD, the SSSD, the Golan III, and many other ships from this site, but do not know how to add them to the game. I was wondering: could someone tell me how to add them to the game?

Second question: I've heard that to add new ships in the game, you have to take out old ships or replace the old ones with ones. Is this true? If so: why does this have to happen? Why can't we add new ships, while keeping the old one?

Firstly, on behalf of everyone, welcome to the site!

Ok, in order to use the ship models you've downloaded, you need to download Resource Hacker, this utility will enable you to import the new ship models into the game. It should be available from the downloads section of the site. There is a tutorial available there as well.

Unfortuantely, you do need to replace existing ship models with the new ones.

I assume you have already got to grips with RebEd?

Step by step! Post if you get more confussed! Don't worry, you haven't been alone!

. . . :?

I'm sorry, but I'm VERY confused. But thank you for the warm welcome! :D

Okay, so I have to download the Resource Hacker to be able to replace ships in the game to have new ships . . . right?

Oh, I've never used RebEd. :)

Like I stated, I truly am a newbie to hacking this game. :?

By the way, why can't we simply add more ships instead of having to replace them?

Welcome,

No, you can only replace the ships, you can not open up new slots for adding them.

REbEd, is our tool to change the stats and the pics of the different units, ships, troops, characters, etc... Doanlowad it and toy with it, you might want to download cards for the models you downloaded, cards are files that include teh pictures and stats that can be loaded with RebEd.

Look for Mask's tutorial, it is very detailed and it is easy to change models with it.

No worries brother! Being confussed by computer gibberish isn't a capital crime!

Anyways, RebEd is an editing programme for Rebellion. Download this from the download section of the site , play around with it, and then we'll move on...

Understand that, and you'll get the larger picture with ship-models...

The simple path, everybody else? :?

Maybe I'll download RebEd a little later, for now (having reinstalled Rebellion for the first time in about 3 months), I'm going to play around with it a little before starting to hack.

. . . but when I do . . . heh heh heh . . .

Thanks!

I've downloaded the Resource Hacker, RebEd, and the tutorial . . . and I'm still lost. Yes, I read the tutorial, but it confused me, not say the information was bad, it's just I'm not very up to speed with the computer language.

Let's just put it this way: I want to know how to replace the Imperial Assault Transport, the Star Galleon, and the Galleon with the Eclipse SSD, the SSSD, and the Golan III. Can someone help me, please?

Okay, one model at a time:

-First you look up the number of the model, that you want to replace in my tutorial. For instance the ATRN is 2580, that would be the close-up model. 2581 & 2582 would be the medium and the far model.

-Now expand for instance the 2580 entry, until you see the '1033'. Right-click on this and select 'Replace Resource'.

-After opening the extracted .x model with it, you fill in these values in the dialog : 301, 2580, 1033. Then hit 'replace' and the close-up model is replaced. Do this for the 2581 & 2582 entries as well and you're done with this model. Of course you'd have to substitute the 2580 in the values with 2581 and later 2582, respectively. 301 and 1033 will always be the same, since it's always a model (301) and the language (1033) will be the same as well.

-Now, if you want to look at the model for instance in RebEd save the tactical.dll with resource hacker and close that program :!:

Then you can open up RebEd and view the model.

If you still have resource hacker open, then your tactical.dll can become corrupted and you'd have to get a 'fresh' one from your cd.

Better now ? :D

The TACTICAL.DLL is in the Star Wars rebellion folder, in the lucasarts folder in program files...

If you can't see it you might want to select the folder options and enable seeing DLL files.

Hastings, now I'm confused. Or is it confussed? I'll check the dictionary...

No, you were correct the first time colonel, same for you, lieutenants. Both of you sirs spelled confuse correct (one "s").

Err . . . okay, I went to C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Rebellion, but I can't find a .dll file. All I found were three folders (EData, GData, and SaveGame) and the following: DelisL1.isu, LEC Multiplayer Home Page, Readme, Readme, Rebexe, Register On-line, Register, Star Wars Rebellion Readme, Tsguide, Tsguide, Visit http://www.lucasarts.com, Website, and Zone. That's it! At the bottom I said to find All Files and that's what it turned up. Have I missed something? :?

I think I know why you can't do it.

WIndows hides automatically all your DLL files.

Just go to Control Panel>Folder Options and select show all files.

After that you'll see the system files which include the DLL.
