the sounds of Rebellion as mp3?

I'd like to hear my e-mail-client tell me that new mail has arrived using e.g. Solo's "I told you it was gonna work!" or Vader's "I have arrived!". Unfortunately, my client accepts only mp3s as sounds. Is there any way (anyone) to extract the sounds of Rebellion as mp3s?

Verdex: is there a way to pull the sounds from rebellion?.. this I dont know.. however.. my follow up is.. i dont know what format you grab them as, but isnt there an audio converter program you could use?... like one for .wav to .mp3? and do that instead of just trying to grab them as mp3 from rebellion?.. i would think this more possible..

aaah k... i thought your main question was just if one was able to pull them as mp3's.. meaning you were able to pull them as another format... well.. i think you can pull them in some format.. but one of the other guys will tell you that im sure... just once they get on...

LLF (Lord La Forge) should know how to do this, especially since he's working on changing the voices for Reloaded Send him a PM so you don't have to wait.

Save the files using Resource hacker and then use something like Windows Media player or Itunes to convert the file... oh hang on, i'll be back shortly..

 

Edit: I'm struggling to remember how to do it

 

..iTunes converts them to ACC format.. stuck!

Following J's (Jahled's) advice, use RESOURCE HACKER to load either ALSPRITE.DLL or EMSPRITE.DLL. Open the WAVE folder and Han: "I told you it was going to work" is resource 1354; and Darth's: "I have arrived" is resource 1379. Open those folders, then right click on the 1033 file. On the pop up window, go to the SAVE "WAVE:1354:1033" (this is for Han's line) and it will save his dialogue as a .WAV file.

 

As for converting to an MP3, that's going to be up to you and some program. I haven't done this so I can't tell you how. Have you tried "Audacity"? I don't even know if that will work; just throwing it out. Anybody have proven results?

I use CDex myself, but I've heard good things about Audacity

Audacity is the way to go. All you need to do is add a plugin to it so it can convert mp3s. All of this is free of course.

Edit Preferences Advanced Importing

 

where you can change the format to mp3. Now you right click on the saved file Tex outlined how to grab using Resource Hacker, and you'll see the option to change to mp3! Woo!
