Eagle Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 (edited) This is a kind of preview of my work currently in progress. Actually I´m working on quite a number of new Cards, but only a few are really finished and for some reason didn´t managed it to upload them correctly up till now. Some Cards I´m working on are a kind of remake of the original Rebellion Cards. Because some of them are just drawings of minor characters who weren´t seen in any movie and just appeared in some of the novells. Other Cards are new ones of known star wars characters while others are Cards for troops, fighters, special forces and ships. This is an example of a remake of an old Rebellion Card. It´s how I imagine Dorja may look like if he would be seen in a movie. This is the head of a german secretary and I thought by myself that he would be a good imperial captain or something like that.http://img345.imageshack.us/img345/2360/dojaws2.jpg(source: Star Wars Rebellion and ZDF.de) This is how I may imagine Paellon. Obviously with the head of actor Armin Mueller-Stahl.http://img424.imageshack.us/img424/1117/paevu3.png(source: starwars.com and uckermark-erleben.de) A remake of the Chewbacca Card. Now with a real picture instead of a drawing.http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/3994/chewienx6.jpg(source: starwars.com) This is version No 1 of Joruus C´baoth.http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/2305/joruscnh7.png(source:starwars.com and occhirossi.it) And this is version No 2 of Joruus. http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7814/cbaothjmk5.png(source: starwars.com and news.soc.mil)Charles Manson and Saddam Hussein, two madman! Who else would fit the role of a mad dark jedi!? In Episode III the clones weared a newer armour-design which showed their relations with the later stormtroopers. It is said that with the new order and the rise of the empire clone-troopers became the ranks of stormtroopers. So I thought to myself that the first stormtroopers must have worn the old clone-trooper armour but with the imperial colour-sceme in black and white and the well known stormtrooper-armour was just developed step by step. So this is how I would imagine the first stormtroopers, which I call the stormtroopers MKI. http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/374/coruscant1bcoru1krg3.jpgThe same but with another background:http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/6369/coruscantacour2kdr0.jpg(sources for both: starwars.com and 501st.com) If wanted I will keep you updated about my work on other Cards. Here´s another preview (for those who are interested in ): This here is a remake of Grammel:http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/9898/grammwp3.jpg(source: filme.acasa.ro/John_Beck.html) One of my favorite, a little funnier one. JediHunter Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I think they look real nice there Eagle. I liked your cards for Joruus.. hehehe.. must say im quite impressed. "Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together."http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j34/akira9949/4297_image.jpg
Eagle Posted December 5, 2006 Author Posted December 5, 2006 I thank you very much, JediHunter. Maybe I will create a new card especially for you and it may look like this. Just kidding! But I will try to finish my work on these cards as soon as possible so I can upload them. Who cares at all?!
Darth_Rob Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I personally laughed at Saddam! Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! My Website http://fp.profiles.us.playstation.com/playstation/psn/pid/BigBadBob113.png
Eagle Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 Lol rob! Yes, of course it´s a kinda funnier card with Saddam. But if you found that funny, than look at this:http://www.crushkilldestroy.org/weblog/archives/weihnachtsmann.jpg I´ve tried several times to upload different cards, but it allways fails. Allthough I´ve made the size of the cards much smaller. It allways says this:Star Wars: Rebellion [sWR] Card Submission Files cannot be posted. 150000 byte limit for cards: 20000 byte limit for JPGs.Hm, a picture of the size 200 x 100 will allways have 20000 byte/pixel so what can I do to make the whole package smaller? Any ideas? Who cares at all?!
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted December 6, 2006 SWR Staff - Executive Posted December 6, 2006 JPG compression never has 20000 byte/pixel - that is just a rediculous amount Evaders99http://swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif Webmasterhttp://swrebellion.com/images/banners/swcicuserbar.png Administrator Fighting is terrible, but not as terrible as losing the will to fight.- SW:Rebellion Network - Evaders Squadron Coding -The cake is a lie.
Eagle Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 Maybe. But how can I compress such a pic. I use gimp, can anybody explain a noob like me how this works? Thanks. Who cares at all?!
Paul Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I cant help with the compression problem Eagle, but wanted to say I liked your cards. I used to make cards all of the time but haven't done one in quite some time. Good work my friend.- Grand Moff Conway
Eagle Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 Thank you Paul! I can remember that I´ve downloaded some demo versions of photo-shop and paint shop pro. If I´ve found those CDs the compression-problem should be solved finally. BTW how are you doing? Who cares at all?!
Paul Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I have good and bad days, thanks for asking. I think you will make a great card creator Eagle. - Grand Moff Conway
Eagle Posted December 18, 2006 Author Posted December 18, 2006 Thank you Paul! I have now a little bit time so I hope that at least a couple of these cards will be downloadable here soon. Who cares at all?!
Jahled Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 I use Photoshop, but I guess it must be more or less the same thing in Gimp. When you're saving your 200x100 picture in .jpg formula simply optimize the crap out of it; ie: reduce the quality of it. Then you should have a nice, manageable picture with a low kb size the site will except. http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Eagle Posted December 19, 2006 Author Posted December 19, 2006 I´ve tried that, Jahled, but the kb-size is still the same. Who cares at all?!
DarthTex Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 For cards, I thought the file had to be a bitmap (.BMP) and you had to make sure you used the same color palette as the other Rebellion (original) cards? I use Paint Shop Pro (actually an "old" version, but it still works! Plus I know how to use it, mostly; as compared to those new fangled versions with so many darn buttons and pull down menus it becomes a real pain in the arse to use ). Sorry about the rant Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
Jahled Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 I´ve tried that, Jahled, but the kb-size is still the same. That's impossible! If you are optimising it then your reducing the quality by definition you are lowering the file size.. I reckon you may not be actually doing any optimization with Gimp. You can optimize with Irfanview as well. Download it off the net (it's free) and i'll talk you through optimizing using it, if you can't get your paws on a copy of Photoshop which would the better option.. EDIT: For cards, I thought the file had to be a bitmap (.BMP) and you had to make sure you used the same color palette as the other Rebellion (original) cards? I think Eagle's talking about the 200x100 upload .jpg used for submitting cards Tex fella! http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Eagle Posted December 20, 2006 Author Posted December 20, 2006 If you are optimising it then your reducing the quality by definition you are lowering the file size.. Ahhh, that really helped me! Thank you, Jahled! And yes, I was talking about the 200 x 100 JPEG. So that problem is solved. But another one has now occured. I tried to upload several cards but it still fails. Now I´ve received this message: Cannot get file done! Any ideas? Who cares at all?!
DarthTex Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I think Eagle's talking about the 200x100 upload .jpg used for submitting cards Tex fella! I'm just a simple cow hand; I just use the .BMP with the appropriate background Of course, all of the cards I made were lost in the Great Crash of 2006. Some day I'll re-submit them Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
JediHunter Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Of course, all of the cards I made were lost in the Great Crash of 2006. ....... another loss due to the great crash... they will be missed....
