I finally found a copy at Gamestop.

 

Now what do I do?

 

I figured out how to do most of the stuff but I need some strategy help, the Empire destroyed me in about eighty days.

Ooo, time for an on-line manual- check the questions from newbies section. I wrote a rather long bit on how to play the game under the topic "Online manual." I'll try to find it to give you a link.

Alright, this may sound stupid, but if there is a planet without a construction thingie at the begining of the game, do I just have to accept the fact that it can't build anything? Ever?

You have to build the construction yard on another planet and set the new planet as the destination.

If you're referring to none of your planets having construction yards then you must do one of three things.

 

1) Say, "Screw this!" and start a new game until you have a construction yard.

2) Diplomatically turn a planet with a construction yard to your side.

3) Use military force to conquer a planet with a construction yard (Have at least six units of garrison troops when you take it or you can't use the construction yard)

 

To get a building to a location different from the planet you are building it on you have to right click on the tab for the construction yard (The one with the status of the construction on it, IE tab one) and select "Destination." Then click on the planet where you want that construction yard/building of your choice.

That seems easier than I thought it would be. Commenor, the one without construction yards, is getting hammered ( the entire garrison is gone) by the imperials. It's my only planet in that sector and the rest are imperial.
