I wouldn't say that it would fit in with the general "australian stereotype" (thinking 'bout Crocodile Dundee/Steve Irwin kind of characters...) Sure people like that have "rough edges" but I don't think I have ever heard on of those just blurt out such things... If anything I would say that the general Australian would seem a bit reserved...
