I'm just sort of wondering how people 'capture' bits of DVDs to use as gifs. Any of you guys know what software I need to use?

HELP!!!

Screen capturing twenty or so frames to get a gif is involving horrible file sizes comming and going on my PC!

Someone, elsewhere, suggested software called DVD Rip but I can't find it as freeware, anyone know something simular? :)

Yeah, BTW, Mad, hitting printscreen doesn't save the screen... Should I have paint open or something when I hit the button?

Well I guess it depends on what DVD program you have. I'm using PowerDVD and it has a simple button to generate save the screen to an image file. Very handy. Unfortunately it will be hard to do it this way if you are attempting to actual capture motion at a certain frame rate for GIFs

Can't you play the DVD, press pause and then hit PrScn to take a screenshot?

I'm using PowerDVD like Evaders below, and of course can (and do!) screen capture. The problem is the subsequent 20 mbs of bitmaps I have to work with in PS to create something 'moving.' Whilst I say it's a problem, it's more of a hassle, and I just thought it would be easier if there was some software where I could capture a sequence of frames, with compression features as well...
