DarthTofu Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Anybody here use blingo? Its a branch of google. You just give them your E-mail and then do searches and you get entered to win prizes. Someone who already is a member is supposed to give you an invite (I think) and if not, well, I can give you guys invites and in acting as friends if I win anything you win something and viceversa. The service is free, and I just wanted to know if anyone wanted an invite. If you would like an invite, just PM me your E-mail address. And no, for those of you who would like to fein my level of stupidity, I intended to write blingo rather than bingo. ... Mad78 Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Is there a website about it?I ain't interessted if this causes you to receive shit loads of spam. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Are you sure this is affiliated with Google? Right now I'm taking several courses regarding to Cyber Crime and digital evidence. To me this sounds like a phishing sight (yes, it really is spelled like that). I think you have a high-risk lifestyle to fall for something like this my friend. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
DarthTex Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Sounds like a scam to me If you do give them an e-mail address, create a new one that you won't have a problem deleting, just in case. Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
DarthTofu Posted December 29, 2005 Author Posted December 29, 2005 The site is http://www.blingo.com Come to think of it, I haven't seen anything from google to suggest they're supporting it, but they have written specifically that they won't sell it to spammers or send you spam. I've given them my E-mail for two or three days now and gotten nothing... I'll give it a month or two and inform you guys if its for real or not. Hope I didn't sign up for something that sends out a virus. Oh, year, and what the heck would "phishing" be? 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Phishing is scams like those online "donation" sties that poped up after Katrina where you give money to what you think is a good cause but in reality some person is pocketing it. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
DarthTofu Posted December 29, 2005 Author Posted December 29, 2005 I see... Except that the site is completely free. So...yeah. Though, like people have said, it may well be a scam to get E-mail addresses. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away

AdmiralToguroAni Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Dear Sir or Madame, I am Renaldo Renald Ronald, a banker from Nigeria who represents a Mister Gerald Bald Zee. He has deposited the sum of money, the US equivilent of twenty-four million dollars (24,000,000USD) in a secure bank account, which it is my duty to keep safe.Unfortunately, Mr. Zee died in my country's recent revolution and so now this money is sitting in the bank, only able to be transferred if I sign it over to an immediate heir. This is where you come in. I require a secure bank account to transfer the money to, and to name you the immediate heir. We will split the reward fifty-fifty (50/50) and will be profitable from this. Please contact me and decide how this will be done. With most sincerity, Renaldo Renald Ronald ----This is the famous Nigerian scam. I've gotten it a few times, all of them just a little bit different. Anyone else got a good one? Count Dooku is the strongest Star Wars character as depicted in the movies. All hail Christopher Lee.
DarthTofu Posted December 29, 2005 Author Posted December 29, 2005 anyone ever had the infamous "I m an African-American women. I have found gold and oil in Huge stores here. If u give me ur banker numbur I will give u 40,000,000,000 $rs." Worste job ever. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Mad78 Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 I once had one a bit like this: Dear customer of *bank name*, So as to improve our service we have decided to expand our database and before the transfer we need you to confirm your account. Please enter you card number bellow to allow us to confirm your account. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
DarthTex Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 The "phishers" copy everything they possibly can from the original website to make their e-mail look legit. Some of the links go to the actual website (i.e. help, etc), but it's just that "one" link where they want you to click that's dangerous. Even if you click the fake link, the address bar shows what you think it should say, only the IP address is what gives them away. And not to many people know their banks IP address, I know I don't. The banks or any financial institution will NOT ask for any confidential info over the phone or by e-mail. The safest thing to remember is: if you have any doubts about a link in an e-mail, manually type the address in to your web browser and ask the "help desk" about its validity (this defeats the hidden IP address end-around that gets the phishers their money). It's always safer to ask questions first then address the problem, than creating a problem for yourself. Keep vilgilant people! I also got the Nigerian scam, the payoff was "diamonds" in a safety deposit box to be shipped to me. Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?

I never noticed that. In fact, i almost missed the fact that there even was a differance, and was about to ak you what in Sam Hell you were talking about. Then I noticed that "s". So if Blingo's been up for four years, is free, claims to be part of google, and doesn't seem to have any law suits against it, I'm going with this thing is safe. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away

slumbersix Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 hey now, thats not very nice! i was actually doing a search to see what otehrs thought of Blingo because I was bored and found a Star Wars site(which I'm a big star wars fan) and someone asking a question about Blingo... I will most likely stick around and post though I'm not always the most active in forums... Don't particularily like the way people treat others... But I will do my best to become an active member of this board...

slumbersix Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Sorry if it seemed I meant it was you being mean, I just meant in general message boards have gotten real nasty lately and I just haven't had much interest in posting... But then I saw the post about blingo and how people were doubting it... and I have honestly won 3 movie tickets, 2 have come already and one should arrive in the next few days... Anyways, I look forward to being a part of this community and checking out the star wars rebellion forums.
