RothMan Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Greetings fellow Star Wars fans. I'm doing a total converion for another game - Star Trek Bridge Commander. It's not an RTS like this game, so it plays a little differently. I am looking for ship modelers - in particular, people who can model a Trade Federation Cruiser (General Grevious' ship), the Trade Federation Battleship, the ARC-170, the Jedi Starfighter, and a few driod fighters. I'm looking into adding a few other ships too, but at this time, I don't know exactly what they will be. Right now, the staff is only 3 people (and a possible 4th). I'd love to have more people, and I'd REALLY love to have the guys who modeled the ships for this game! I'm a die-hard fan of War Lords, but for whatever reason, the AI in clone wars (0.8v I think) doesn't seem to work. If your interested in doing some modeling, let me know! You can let me know either on this site, or via my e-mail address (paultwocrow@aol.com). Here's a link the the Venator class Star Destroy that will be in the game (she's a beautiful ship), and if you scroll down to about the middle of the page, you can see the ship actually in-game: http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~bridgecommander/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=20758 If I can get permission from the authors of the ships in this game, I'd like to try to import them into 3D max, and then import them into the game (after some hard-pointing) to see how they work. Thanks for taking the time to read this lengthy post. Oh, and if you can help me get in touch with the creator(s) of some of the models in SW: Rebellion, that would be awesome. Thanks.

There was a Star Wars Bridge Commander project done awhile ago, but it doesn't include any of the ships we're trying to create. I will send Eville Jedi a message, and see if I can get permission to use one or two of his models.
Mad78 Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 I have two questions.1) What is the max poly count of the Bridge Commander? 2) Do you intend on using some of the models already in the Download section? http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
RothMan Posted January 1, 2006 Author Posted January 1, 2006 I have two questions.1) What is the max poly count of the Bridge Commander? 2) Do you intend on using some of the models already in the Download section? First of all, I'd like to personally invite you Mad78 to join my team. I saw your work on that Trade Federation Battleship and I was amazed. 1) I'm not sure what the max poly count is, but you can go here (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~bridgecommander/phpBB/) and check it out: I'm warning you, the site is on a slow server. I know ships have been done at around 1000 polys, but other than that, I can't really tell ya. I've tried to model my own ships, but I'm REALLY bad at it. My computer can handle 25 ships in game at full detail and with an integreated video card with no problem (Athlon x2 3800). 2) I'd like to use the ships from the Clone Wars mod for Homeworld 2 (and your Trade Federation Battleship ), but I don't have permission yet. I wasn't even sure if it was possible to move them from one game to another until just a few days ago, LOL! I should add a little about how the mod will play: The mod won't allow for 100+ ships like Warlords does, and the game isn't an RTS. In the game, you take control of 1 ship (fighter or capital ship) instead of commanding a fleet. However, the game does allow you to order your fleet or individual ships to do various things: attack my target, defend me, etc. I believe the game only allows 25 ships in game at one time, which isn't too many. So you kinda have to decide between capital vs capital battle, or a fighter vs fighter battle. BUT, I'm looking into ways to disable that feature (I'm told it isn't hard). Unlike Warlords, you can't build ships, but you can travel to 50+ systems in the middle of a game, and if it's pre-programmed, you can make it so that there are a set number/type of ships in a specific system so that when you win a battle in system A, you can make the hyperspace jump to system B and there will be a new fleet to conquer. It's kinda cool. The Bridge Commander modding community is huge. Each week about 20 mods are added (you can find this massive database here: http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/). There have been starwars mods done before, but they are old and 99% of the time, the models are TERRIBLY done, and there are NO Clone Wars Ships.
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted January 1, 2006 SWR Staff - Executive Posted January 1, 2006 you can go here (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~bridgecommander/phpBB/) and check it out: I'm warning you, the site is on a slow server Don't suppose you want a place here for your mod then? With my current other projects i have time to work on acouple of extra projects as well. So if u need someone to handle supplying ships and handling permission rights etc. Ill be glad to do it. In return i only expect credit for my job since it also pays wells in other areas for me, like getting to know more 3d modelers that build star wars models. Anyways RothMan right me a list and i should be able to cover most of it in a week or 2 oh and PM me ur msn so we can talk a bit more about this.
Mad78 Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 I can help out but its not sure i shall have an immense amount of time but i shall do what I can . The first question would be to know how many different ships you intend to integrate into the game?Maybe contact me via MSN sio we can have a chat. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance

I'm trying to get on MSN, but I continously get a service cannot be reached error - which is strange because I can get on the Internet. In all honesty, I wouldn't mind it at all . Sure, I'll create a forum here for your project. Have a name yet?Or shall we just do Bridge Commander Mod for now? Awesome. How does the name, "Bridge Commander: The Clone Wars", sound? It's not great, but it's a start. As for what ships are going to be in game, here's a rough and expanding list: Sepratist Fleet*Trade Federation Battleship*Trade Federation Cruiser (Grevious ship).*Commerce Guild Support Ship (http://www.starwars.com/databank/starship/commerceguilddestroyer/index.html)*Driod Starfighter*Driod Tri-Fighter Clone Fleet*Venator Class Star Destroyer*Acclamator Class*ARC-170*Jedi Starfighter I was thinking about adding Episode IV-VI ships. Then, we could not only have ships from the clone wars, but ships from the era of the Empire. If we did that, we'd add the following on top of the above: Rebell Fleet*Mon Calamari ships including: MC-80 series (all variants), MC-90, and Home One.*Tantive IV*Nebulon B*X-wing*A-wing*Y-wing*B-wing*Millenium Falcon Empirical Fleet*Victory 1 Class Star Destroyer*Super Star Destroyer*Tie-Fighter*Tie-Bomber*Tie-Interceptor I, and others, think it would be pretty cool to have the option to play out the clone wars, the Rebellion, or even the Clone Wars era vs the Rebellion era. I know it's a big list, but it's going to be a great mod when it's done. Mods from Bridge Commander get anywhere between 2,500-12,500 downloads - this depends on how cool the mods are, of course. I'd like this mod to be one of the ones that gets 12,500 downloads. Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

After the model gets into 3Ds, it's not too hard to get it into BC. If you have a model, we'd love to use it (and give you all the credit of course ).

RothMan Posted January 3, 2006 Author Posted January 3, 2006 Roth could you please tell me how to put my ships in Bridge Commander. Well, from what I understand, you need to change the file into a .pyc file. However, the ship needs things like shields, weapons, engines, and engine glows. For that, you need to hardpoint it. For that, you need to download this (Model Property Editor *MPE*, otherwise known ask SDK): http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Bridge_Commander_SDK;2455 The above program is hard to get working because of a lack of instructions, so you'll need this to get it working: http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Model_Property_Editor_Tutorial;19519 The tutorial is good, and you shouldn't have too much trouble getting it to work. You can import the Trade Federation Battleship into MPE, and hardpoint it from there. If you need any more help (you probably will, because I'm not too knowledgable about how to get it into game), just post it up at the BC site in the correct forum.
Mad78 Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Thanks I shall work on it. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
RothMan Posted January 3, 2006 Author Posted January 3, 2006 Thanks I shall work on it. You might want to contact SkyBlazer. He seems to have had sucess getting ships into BC. He has an MSN account if that helps.
skyblazer Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 all ive done so far was put the exportor plug-in on milkshape. Ive yet to bother learning how to do hardpoints so i can't help u to much.

skyblazer Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 putting hardpoints on shis is confusing. I have no idea if they r in the right places or not. Im more use to seeing some form of indercation that shows me where i have just placed a hardpoint.

Im more use to seeing some form of indercation that shows me where i have just placed a hardpoint. Putting hardpoints on is easy - but, like you said, getting them to fire from the right place is hard. Search for a tutorial on how to hardpoint on the the BC site - I'll do the same.
