Calis Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 How effective are regular lasers at blasting capital ships (shields and hull) when compared to turbolasers? Why do some of the ships I fire at get this blue sphere around them (ion?) when none of the ships firing has any ion cannons?
0 AdmiralToguroAni Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Give me the dewey button. I deserve it. Count Dooku is the strongest Star Wars character as depicted in the movies. All hail Christopher Lee.
0 Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Gentlement, this isn't the place for childish bickering. If you want to argue over a frivolous topic please do so using PMs instead of wasting time here on the boards. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
0 AdmiralToguroAni Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 It has gotten a bit off track. If it keeps going I'll hijack it and turn it into one of my "Dooku is the strongest SW movie character of all time" arguments Count Dooku is the strongest Star Wars character as depicted in the movies. Alright, so in the grand scheme of things, how much do tractor beams really affect over-all ship performance? Can they keep a ship from rotating to present the most weaponry in the shortest period of time? 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
0 AdmiralToguroAni Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 From what I've seen, they only seem to slow enemy sublight movement down. The enemy is still able to rotate, fire, and enter into hyperspace while under a tractor beam. Count Dooku is the strongest Star Wars character as depicted in the movies. All hail Christopher Lee.
0 Darth_Rob Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 From the EU I gathered that a ship caught in a tractor beam could not enter hyperspace. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! My Website http://fp.profiles.us.playstation.com/playstation/psn/pid/BigBadBob113.png
0 AdmiralToguroAni Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Thats probably correct. However, SSD's dont have 500 turbolasers in front either. Rebellion doesn't always stick with the EU for its battle mechanics Count Dooku is the strongest Star Wars character as depicted in the movies. All hail Christopher Lee.

Rebellion doesn't always stick with the EU for its battle mechanics Other way around, I think. EU is sort of based on Rebellion... which was (I think) sort of based off of the Zahn books when they first came out. If you read the X-wing Rogue Squadron books all of the ships utalized are in the game. Haven't read too many other novels, so I don't know if they correspond... 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
0 AdmiralToguroAni Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 several of the older EU books were made before Rebellion came out. The Zahn trilogy, whatever Daala's first appearance was in, as well as those other imperial officers that dont make the cut in the movie. You're probably right in assuming that the later novels used Rebellion to guage the power of ships, but Rebellion still doesn't follow canon in terms of how many lasers ships have and what tractor beams and such can do. This was probably intentional to speed up the combat though. Count Dooku is the strongest Star Wars character as depicted in the movies. All hail Christopher Lee.
0 Darth_Rob Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Yeah. But I still wish that an Interdictor Cruiser could be used to yank Rebel ships out of transit for an ambush! 0 Calis Posted November 14, 2005 Author Posted November 14, 2005 That's probably the thing I'd like to have most of all, they feel so inadequat compared to what they could be...And ofcourse hijacking ships wouldn't be wrong either...
0 DarthTofu Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I would direct you gentlemen to some Empire at War sites. Going to be a frickin' awesome game... 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
