Wal-mart tends to move into small towns, or have it stores built near strip-malls, local businesses, etc. Becase of the monster corporation that Wal-Mart is the local business can't compete with sales and goes out of business. It seems likely that once the owners no longer have a job they must work at Wal-Mart to sustain their life, thus conversion.
