Defender_16 Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 (edited) Anyone that's played long games as the Empire knows that sometimes it's hard to come up with names for your ships off the top of your head. More so with Star Destroyer names as it's just plain messy to have your ships running arround with only numbers. A name can inspire fear in your enemy and can make it easier to remember what taskforce was where if you Identify with them. So I've decided to compile a list, not only of official ship names but also ones that sound like they would fit that kind of ship. (This could be handy not only for the Game but for any Fan Fiction writers as well.) [i always name my Destroyers, even when their cost is set to 1, simply for the coolness. ] I'll be listing in alphabetical order and putting the official ones in among the others. (I'll add more each day.) (T) -Thrawn, Served as part of the Grand Admiral's fleet(V) -Vader, Part of the infamous Death Squadron (D) -Dalla, Was part of this admiral's fleet at one time. (Emp) -Assigned to the protection of the Emperor(SSD) -specific class type of ship(ISD) -specific class type of ship(ISDII) -specific class type of ship (NR) - New Republic ShipAny ship with this information next to it is from one of the official ship lists, unless there is a * next to that info. In which case that info is merely a suggestion for what it would best suit. General Destroyer listing (Note: I took most of these quickily out of a Dictionary so there may be spelling mistakes.) BadSamaritan Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Ooh! Ooh! Dont forget the best Star Destroyer name of all time!! Magic Dragon!!! I kid you not. Stoned Grand Admirals should not be allowed to name their own flagships. Edit: I name all my Destroyers after either Planets, or cartoon characters. In my current game, Thrawn is leading the Empire from the bridge of the Papa Smurf. I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

I'm stealing that if we can name ships for empire at war, bad.. the papa smurf's going to lead the empire to victory!
DarthTofu Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 The Pink, the Fluffy, the Donut... Ah,such great Star Destroyers. My personal favorite thing to do is making sentances with massive fleets. Get, like, 50 SSDs in one fleet and make a long, run on sentance about how terrible Rebels are. Whee! Other names: Tentious.Bob, ect. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Thrawn90 Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Wasn't there a list of Star Destroyer names on Mask's site? Anywho, these are some I've never heard before; good work!
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Just to point out, the Chimaera was an ISD I and did not serve under Vader. It waas at the Battle of Endor, but it was really under Piett's command. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Let's see, we can go off of this one with Puff, Lung Cancer, Testicular Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Prostitute Cancer, Constallation Cancer, Leo, Virgilo, Pices... And yes, i said Testicular cancer- that's how evil the Empire truly is! 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
BadSamaritan Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Prostitute Cancer, This threw me for a loop..... I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.
Defender_16 Posted October 8, 2005 Author Posted October 8, 2005 (edited) Just to point out, the Chimaera was an ISD I and did not serve under Vader. It waas at the Battle of Endor, but it was really under Piett's command. The ships under Piett's command are not so indirectly under Vader's Command since he spends a great deal of time running arround with a fleet of differing size. The Chimaera ( Spelled Chimera in the Dictionary I was using and on the Destroyer list page I already searched.) is kind of confusing for me. The second spelling referres to the ISDII used by Pelleaon through most of his career. Flagship for Thrawn, abandoned at Duro durring Shadow Hand, Refurbished by the NR and then stolen and returned to the Imperial fleet. You gotta love a ship like that. I read somewhere about an ISD with the same name and that it might have been possible that it was upgraded to the newer class? I Dunno. One of those things I really don't want to go on a quest to find out about. EDIT: My desision to put ISDII next to it is more of a suggestion then, since the ship kicks so much ass in the books, it might as well be a Mark 2 in the game in order to equal the combat level. If anyone else can list some names that sound like they might fit an Imperial Star Destroyer that'd be great. I'll be doing more of 'C' and later some 'D' so if people can look into the later letters that'd be great. I'll then add them to the list in the first post. Edited October 8, 2005 by Defender_16
DarthTofu Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 In the Zahn books and Dark Tide II: Ruin its still an ISD. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Ambrose Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I'm currently working on a list of SD names and their class....with what commander I found attached to that ship its a fairly long list and its going to take me atleast another day to get it togeather but I hope it will help everyone out (also note some of the names repeat due to the distruction of the ship if people want me to I can try and find when each of the ships are destroyed)
General_Crespin Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Here's a link to my list on another forum, Ctrl+F for Binder to take you to the start of my Imperial ship name list, Binder through Vindicator are names that would fit Interdictors (kind of), Adamant through Warspite are general Imperial ship names. http://crespin.xwlegacy.net/pics/Shadowkeeper99a.jpg
