(Editors note: Yah, they do have a chance. Where we are sitting in the storyline right now, the Empire is just starting to get into a groove that will continue for a while. There are a few ruts in the road ahead though, for both sides.)

Commander Ush'la growled slightly as the forces arrayed against his changed their position once again. Everytime he tried to move his forces to flank theirs, they moved just enough to stop him. He glanced down at his sensor board, and saw to his horror that all of his starfighters were now gone.

"Blast. Can't our gunships hit those uglies?" he asked, and his sensor officer shook his head.

"No, sir. Whatever they are, they are moving faster than any other ugly I have ever seen. They seem to be concentrating on the Firehawk right now though." he said, and Ush'la nodded, noting that a lot of them were flying around the starboard frigate in his formation, nibbling away at it's shields.

"Have out gunships move to support the Firehawk for now. And tell the convoy gunships to prepare to move forward if we need them." he ordered, and he looked out his viewport. This was proving to be a very difficult battle. Perhaps it was a good thing they had called in reinforcements.

**********************************************************

"Well, Admiral, it looks like the comander took your bait, assuming that is why you had all your starfighters attack that frigate." Teshik said, and Pelleon nodded.

"It was. Have our corvettes begin a run against those gunships. Afterwards, they are free to begin attacking the freightors." he said, and he watched as his corvettes chot out from behind the formation of vessels they were hidden behind. As they moved to attack the gunships, Pelleon smiled as the gunships started to move back into the protection of the dreadnaught.

"Too little, too late. The battle is mine." Pelleon said, and Teshik nodded.

"That it is, Admiral. But you must admit, he did quite well." Teshik quipped, and Pelleon was forced to agree. Whoever this person was, was far to good to be leading convoys.

**********************************************************

"Commander! Enemy corvettes are making arun for our gunships!" came the snesor officers voice, and Ush'la shot to his feet.

"Call them back to our flanks! now!" he ordered, but he knew it was to late. He watched as the corvettes dove into the battle, their dual turblolasers pounding away at the gunships. Teh gunships' sheilds held for a moments, but then fell apart under the withering barrgaes. They almsot seemed to halt in place as the corvettes passes by them.

As the corvettes finished thier pass and moved on to attack the convoy, Ush'la sat back in his chair. His gunships were now in flames, dead in space. And his convoy was now at the mercy of the corvettes.

"Order all freightors to scatter, and make leaps to hyperspace. We will cover them as much as we can. After they are gone, we will make a run towards where the Homestar should be leaving hypserspace." he said, and he sighed. he had been beaten by pirates. Not a highest point of his career ever.

*********************************************************

"Admiral, it appears that the convoy is scattering. They are running." the sensor officer said, and Pellon nodded.

"Le them run. We did what we came here to do. begin calling back starfighters and our corvettes, but try to keep it as random as possible. I want to get out of here before any reinforcements arrive." p[elleon said, and teshik nodded.

"A good idea. We have more than enough data for now. And personally, I don;t like the cramped spaces of this vessel. I would prefer to be on the bridge of a Star Destroyer as soon as possible." Teshik said, watching as pairs of starfighters began turnign away fromt eh battle.

"Very true Admiral Teshik. I myself wish to be back aboard the bridge of my flagship. And also, If I am correct,. we will get back to Imperial space just in time for our next operation." Pelleon said, and Teshik frowned. he had not yet thought about thier next step.

"And what would that be Gillead?" he asked, and Pelleon smiled.

"Nothign much. Just evening up the odds a bit more. And if you are bring to our side who I think you may be, they will be of great use to us in this step." he said, a smile growing on his lips.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

(Editors Note: As promised, I will continue the story. Here is the next installment, fresh for the oven!! This is the starting point from which this part of the story will draw to an end.)

General Wedge Antilles, decorated officer of the New Republic, vetern of hundreds of battles against the Empire, had never known he could be so afraid. Standing ridged in the room, he stared at the military tribunal in front of him.

Several days ago, he had awoken to discover his entire command was gone, either dead or captured. And it seemed to him that the entire galaxy was out to get him since then. He had been questioned extensivly by dozens of intelligence officers. He had been refused contact with anyone not involved with the investigation of the disaster at Soullex. Even his request for a leave of absince from the military was denied. And now, he stood before a tribunal which was to decide his future in the military.

"General Antilles, is it your belief that everything that was done to prepare for the battle over Soullex was done correctly?" asked Admiral Corvell. Wedge seemed to think about it for a moment, and then nodded.

"Yes, Admiral. We looked at the intelligance we had on hand, and decided it was worth the risk. We prepared more than enough warships than what was needed for the operation, in case it was a trap. Everyone that knew about the operation from the start was screened, to make sure that the plans could not be leaked. Everything was done as securaly as possible, as quietly as possible, and as carefully as possible." he said, and Corvell nodded.

"Then why was it, General, that the Empire had a force of vessels waiting for you? How did they find out about our plans to capture the Gaurdian?" asked Fleet Admiral Vonn'tai. Wedge looked to him, and sighed.

"I cannot answer that. I can only assume that Imperial Intelligence found out about the operation, and prepared a warfleet large enough to counter ours." Antilles said, and immediatly, Borsk Fey'lya scowled.

"But you just said security was as tight as possible about the operation. Are you saying you were mistaken?" he asked, and Wedge shook his head.

"No, councilor. What I said was accurate. We did everything in our power to make sure the plan was kept a secret." he said, and Covell look at him darkly.

"So you are saying that everything you did was not good enough?" he asked, and Wedge cursed himself. Corvell had him trapped like a womprat now, and they all knew it.

"Judging by how the operation turned out, Admiral, yes. Security should have been tighter. But where, I do not know." he said, and Corvell nodded.

Fleet Admiral Voon'tai looked down at a datapad in front of him and then back to Wedge. Wedge looked at him, but the face of the Duros was emotionless, as always.

"General, when the first wave of Imperails arrived, you had all your support vessles forward. Would it not have been more prudent to leave some towards the rear of your flagship, in case of an ambush?" he asked, and Wedge nodded.

" If my force had been the only vessels there, then yes. But general Iblis was on station, in case of an ambush. And frankly, Admiral, with the vessles that Pelleon first brought in system, any vessels I left to protect my rear flank would have been outmatched." he said, and the Admirals that stared at him, nodding. Borsk Fey'lya simply stared at him coldly.

"General, is says here that when Iblis' force arrived in system, the Lusankya was in the middle of a hard turn to starboard. To the best of your ability, can you tell us if this was a move to engage the Imperial force, or a move to prepare for retreat?" Corvell asked, and Wedge closed his eyes. He still had no recolaction from the battle. But he had to try and answer, at least.

"Pelleon brought in a large force, more then enough to handle my support vessels. And he brought it in to exploit a Super Star Destroyers' largest weakpoint, its rear flank. There are no ventral guns in the rear arc. I cannot say for sure, but it was probably a move to try and bring my guns to bear on his fleet, in preperation for Iblis' arrival." he said, and Fey'lya nodded.

"You would have intended to Use Iblis' arrival to pull the imperails away from your vessels, and then escape?" he asked, and Wedge nodded.

"Yes, councilor. It would have worked, had there not been more Imperials on the way." he said, and Corvell looked to Wedge.

"General, the moment the Imperials arrived in force, you should have realised that the operation had been leaked. Why would you continue to fight a battle where the enemy knew just as much as you did about your force, and you knew nothing about his?" Voon'tai asked, and Wedge took a deep breath.

"I do not know, Admiral. Like you know, I have no memory of that day. All I can do is try and second guess myself." he said, and the members of the tribunal all looked at one another and nodded. Slowly, the three members of the tribunal stood up, and stared at Wedge.

"General, we will convene now, and discuss this matter between ourselves. ou may wait here, or in the waiting room. That choice is yours." Borsk said, and Wedge nodded. He watched as they left the room silently, adn wondered coldly if his career was leaving with them.

********************************************************

Admiral Pelleon stood on the bridge of the Chimeara, and stared in interest at the vessel that flanked his. As massive as his own Star Destroyer, it was much sleeker. It's hull seemed smoother then the hull of a stardestroyer also. He found the design almost soothing in a way. He reminded himself to have his people try and get the design scematics for this class of vessel.

As he looked at the ship, he heard the door to the birge open, and he turned. He nodded to Admiral teshik, and then turned back to the viewport.

"An interesting design, isn't it? That hull and the fins on it make me believe it is capable of atmospheric entry. Strage for a ship of that size." Teshik said, and Pelleon nodded.

"Very true. Although, the Victory-class Star Destroyers are capable of atmospheric entry as well. Perhaps they needed a larger version of that vessel?" he asked, and Teshik shrugged.

"Perhaps they just wanted a vessel that didn't remind everyone of the Empire. But that is neither here nor there. For now, they are out guests. And I believe we have kept them waiting long enough." teshik said, and Pelleon nodded. Together, they left the bridge, and walked to the turbolift. Upon entering, the lift doors shut, and they began their journey to the hangerbay, where the delegates wre scheduled to arrive.

"What do you know of Supreme Admiral Kayn?" Pelleon asked, and Teshik shook his head.

"Nowhere near as much as I would like. We know for certain he managed to oust the President of the CSA quietly a year ago, and took control. he is known for being a shrewd person, and not one to waste time. Also, he has a severe weaknes for members of the opposite sex." Teshik said, and Pelleon nodded.

"Well, since he is not one to waste time, I suppose it is a good sign that he is here." Pelleon said, and Teshik nodded.

"True. But we must be carefull. He looks out for the interests of the CSA first, second, and last. Much like everyone in that part of the galaxy. Any deal we make with him, will benefit the CSA greatly, and us very little." Teshik said, and Pelleon nodded.

"I am aware fo this. Which is why I think I have a deal in mind that will appease him that regard quickly. Wether or not he actually accepts it, only time will tell." Pelleon said, and before Teshik could ask aboutwhat Pelleon had in mind, the lift came to a ahlt, and the doors opened. Both men walked out, and into the main hanger bay.

As they entered, they could see a CSA transport entereing the hanger bay. By the looks of it, it was based entirely on the Lambda-class shuttle, with a few minr modifications. The wings were curved backwards, and the nose of the vessel was rounded off. But those were the only noticable differences. What intrigued both Admirals were the starfighters escorting the shuttle.

At first glance, the starfighters loked a lot like New Republic A-wings. But at a closer glance, the Admirals both noted that these starfighters had the engines at the edges of the starfighters hull, with the laser canons being placed on top of the hull, behind the cockpit on both sides. Also, the hull was far more angular.

As both men studied the starfighters from afar, the shuttled landed, and the main walkway out of the shuttle opened. Admiral Pelleon and Admiral teshik looked to the shuttle, and then began walking towards it. As they arrived at the bottom of the walkway, a man began marching down it.

Tall and lean, the man was dressed in a deep blue uniform that seemed to stick to the man like a second skin. His blonde hair was pulled back tightly, and a short ponytail was held together by a small black band. His face seemed to be chisled from stone, but at the same time, had a very soothing look to it. But what startled Pleeon was the mans eyes. His eyes were a deep green, but behind them there seemed to be a raging fire. Pelleon could tell at once that this man was cunning, and not to be trusted.

"Supreme Admiral Kayn, we welcome you to the Chimeara, and thank you for agreeing to speak with us." Teshik said, and Kayn smiled. When he did so, Pelleon repressed a shudder. His smile was one of a predator.

"Thank you. It is an honor to meet the both of you. Admiral Pelleon, I have always admired you. You have managed to hold off the New Republic quite well thus far. And Grand Admiral Teshik. Your campaign into the Hapes Consortium was nothing short of brilliant, even if it was doomed." he said, and Pelleon could see Teshik twitch with that last comment. He knew Teshik was quick to anger when people mentioned that subject. But they both knew that Supreme Admiral Kayn was their guest, and had to be treated as such.

"Thank you Admirall. If you will come this way, we can begin discussing our futures." Pelleon said, motioning to the lift behind them. kayn looked to plleon, the predatory grin still on his face.

"Yes, let's. And what part of our futures shall we be discussing?" he asked as he began to walk towards the lift. As Pelleon and Teshik walked next to him, teshik simply smiled.

"Very simple. The future where we defeat the NEw Republic." he said. At this, Supreme Admiral Kayn seemed to laugh in his throat, but Pelleon shrugged it off. He had to prepare hislef for the negotiations. He had a feeling that this was not going to be easy at all.

******************************************************

Wedge sat in the waiting room, wringing his hands together. he had been waiting for almost an hour now, and he figured to be waiting for several more hours. But then, a soldier walked up to him, and Saluted. Wedge returned the salute, and the soldier spoke.

"General, the council will see you now." the soldier said, and Wedge stood up, surprised. If they were done already, it couldn;t be good. He turned and walked towards the double doors that led into the hearing room.

He walked through the doors, and saw the coucil already seated at their chairs. None of them looked happy at all, meaning even though they had come to an agreement, none of them were happy with it.

As he walked to his place, Councilor Fey'la looked to him, a scowl on his face.

"General Antilles, are you ready to hear the verdict of this council?" he asked, and Wedge nodded.

"General Antilles, it is the finding of this council, that while all precautions were taking to keep this operation secret, something somewhere wasn't tight enough. While this may have not been your fault, some one must take responsibilty. Are you prepared for that?" he asked, and Wedge again nodded.

"Yes councilor, I am." he said, and Fey'la nodded.

"We the council have agreed that that the responsibilty for the leaking of this operation will fall on your head, and the head of another, who we will deal with at a later time. As punishment, you will be reduced in rank to Colonel, and be placed in command of a starfighter squadron. Also, he you to be sworn to secrecy about this hearing. If any word of this gets out, I will personally see to it that you be placed in command of a garbage scow on Tattooine." Fey'la said, and Wedges' mouth dropped open. This was more like a slap on the wrist, not a punishment for a man who had led thousands of people to their deaths.

"Excuse me, councilor, but I do not understand. Shouldn't my punishment be a bit more severe?" he asked, and Admiral Corvell smiled.

"Colonel, if you wish, we could go with Fey'las' suggestion that you be drummed out of the military entirely, and blacklisted so that you never fly again." he said, and Wedge nsapped his mouth shut, realising he still had to learn when to be quiet.

"Colonel, the reason for your punishment is simple. You are far to valuable to the New Republic to simply wash you out of the military. But at the same time, you must be punished. For this reason, you will be placed in command of a starfighter trainer squadron here on Coruscant, until we see fit to move you to a more suitable position." Fleet Admiral Voon'tai said.

Wedge nodded quickly, but inside, he was torn. He would be back in a starfighter cockpit once again. But instead of an elite unit like Rogue or Wraith squadron, he would be in command of trainees, a thought that did not make him happy at all.

"With that in mind Colonel, I warn you now. You are walking a very fine line. One more mistake of any proportion, and you will be removed from command, and be court-martialed. Is that understood?" Corvell asked, and Wedge nodded again.

"Good. Then this hearing is adjouned." Fey'la said, and the tribunal council stood, and walked out fo the room.

Slowly, Wedge walked over to a chair, and sat down. His career wasn't up in flames yet, but he could tell that he was getting close. But, as far as he was concerned, at least he was still in the military. That was something to be happy about at least.

Grand Moff Conway, don't forget the BS is on a RL mission. We'll probably have to wait until some weather hits, then (hopefully) BS will have the time to post (and hopefully it will be an update to his story).

(Editor note: Here it is, fresh out of the oven. Kind of rushed, so spelling is horrid. But, i have a date tonight that I must prepare for.)

Supreme Admiral Kayn, overall leader of the entire CSA, eyes the men sitting across from him at the table. He knew they were both very dangerous bings, and not to be trifled with. He knew he would have to tread carefully during these talks, lest he end up walking the void.

"So tell me Admiral, what type of vessel is that that you arrived in? It is a very interesting design." Pelleon asked, and Kayn smiled.

"It is a Spectre-class Star Destroyer. We of the CSA decided several years ago that we needed a newer, more updated fleet, in case the New Republic ever decided we were a threat to them. So we designed, and began construction, on a fleet of these vessels." he said, and he took a sip from the Alderaanian wine in his glass.

"Interesting. What prompted the hull design? I would guess it is for atmospheric entry." Teshik prompted, and Kayn nodded.

"Yes, that is one of the reasons. The other is the fact that unlike your Imperial- and Victory- class Star Destroyers, these vessels are geared towards space combat only. So we do not need to leave space for thr ground troops, ground equipment, and everyone and everything needed to support and maintain them." he said, and Pellon nodded in appreciation.

"I have always owndered how much smaller our vessels would be if we didn't have all the ground forces that we do aboard our ships. I guess you have answered that question for us." Pelleon said, Kayn smiled, and took a bite of the nerf steak that was his dinner for the evening.

"Yes, I suppose I have. Also, we have a smaller version that we have also began producing, designed more towards anti-starfighter support and landing ground troops. It is slightly smaller than a Victory-class Destroyer. We have dubbed it the Eradicator-class, although I wonder if that name will stick." he said, and Pelleon nodded.

"Class names rarely do stick. But I do have to ask, where are you producing these vessles? i know you have a substantial shipyard at Althrote Prime, but my people say you haven;t been building any vessels there at all like the one you arrived in. Nor have you been building them in any other shipyard that we know of." Pelleon said, and Kayn nodded.

"And for good reason. They are not being produced in a shipyard outside our territory, very close to the edge of the arm the CSA resides in. We also keep most of these new vessels hidden once they are produced, to hide just how large our fleet has become inthe past few years." Kayn said, and Teshik nodded.

"Very ingenious. However, if the New Republic were to discover these actions, you would be quickly subjected to their anger." Teshik said, and Kayn nodded.

"We have realised this. And while we know our fleet can hold off the New Republic for a while, we would lose." Kayn said, and Pleeon nodded.

"Which is why we asked you to meet with us. We have a proposal that you might find interesting." Pelleon said, and Kayn smiled.

"Let me guess, you want me to join the empire, and help you beat back the New Republic? I don't think so. The CSA has avoided joining any one side in this war thus far, and I refuse to join in now." he said, and Pelleon nodded.

"Which is admirable. But we are not asking you to join the Empire. Atually, that would be the worst thing we could do." Pelleon said, and Kayn nodded.

"So what is it that you want, of not our help with fighting the New Republic?" he asked, and Teshik smiled.

"Oh, we want you to fight the new Republic, make no mistake. But not officially as our ally. Surrounding your sector of space is the Fourth Battle Fleet, commanded by Fleet Admiral Ovolkt. We wantyou to use your forces to launch a surprise attack on the fourth fleet. At the same time, we will launch assaults against the Second Battle Fleet which is surrounding us." Teshik said, and Kayn nodded.

"By attacking at the same time, we prevent the fleets from supporting each other as needed. But still, why risk it? The New Republic will simply send a fleet after us as well then." Kayn stated bluntly, and Pelleon nodded.

"Of course they will. But, the New Republic has never had to fight two seperate wars at once. And their Fifth Fleet, which is used to supress problems around the galaxy as they arise, will have to be used to reinforc the Second and Fourth fleets, which we hope will have suffered severe losses from our attacks." He said, and Kayn smiled.

"This is true. I know for a fact that the Fourth fleet would not be ready for an attack from us. From what we can tell Fleet Admiral Ovolkt doesn't even consider us a threat. But still, what would we gain from such a tactic?" he asked, and Pelleon sighed inwardly. Kayn really was as shrewd as his people had told him.

"For one, you would gain respect for the CSA military, one thing it has always lacked from outside governemnts. Secondly, you would gain new territory, something your predecessor was looking at trying to do through diplomacy." Pelleon said, and Kayn sighed.

"Yes, this is all true. But still, the risks outweigh the possible outcome. I am sorry, Admirals, but the CSA will not be joining you in your war." kayn said bluntly, and Teshik sighed. But as he did so, Pelleon could tell that teshik still had a plan.

"That is rather unfortunate, Admiral. But still, we do have another request for you. Our shipyards are incapable of building the amount of starfighters that we will be needing in the near future. Would it be possible for us to order some starfighters from your yards?" he asked, and kayn sat back in his chair to think for a moment.

"I believe that it would be, yes. You will be paying for them, of course?" he said, and Teshik nodded.

"Of course, we will pay you a fair price for all vessels you produce for us. And we will not require delivery, I will send vessels to pick them up." Teshik said, and Kayn nodded.

"yes, then i belive we have a deal on that, at the very least. So at least we can all walk away from this table knowing something was accomplished." Kayn said, and the three men nodded.

Slwoly, opne by one, they got back to their meals. But silently, they all knew the discussion wasn't over. They all knew that the Grand Admiral was determined to have Kayn on his side. But only the Grand Admiral knew how he was going to accomplish it.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

Do you type the "stories" up ahead of time in an editor or just at the posting screen? If you put them in a word processor (i.e. MS Word, etc) you can run the spell checker (and grammar checker if available) before you post. Just a thought  .

Since it's been awhile since the last installment, I'm assuming your RL mission is succeeding.

Keep up the good work (on both accounts) :)

(Editors note: If by succeeding, DT, you mean getting into a very short, volatile relationship, getting thrown in jail for a weekend, and getting arrested for DWI, then yes. Screw being social with real life people, at least you guys don't start fights with me.

And here is the next installment, fresh for your enjoyment!!!)

Admiral Ackbar sat queitly on the bridge of his new flagship, the massive Mon Calamari cruiser Tsunami. Fresh from the shipyards of his homeworld, it was the largest vessel ever constructed by his people, and by far the most advanced warship in the entire New Republic navy. He was proud of the vessel, but more importantly, he was proud of what it would be accomplishing on its first mission.

After several months of concentrate efforts from several New Republic agencies, the rouge Imperial Admiral Tavira had finally been located, as had her main force of pirate vessels. For far to long she had been a thon in the side of the New Republic, striking at will, and vanishing long before any forces could mobolize to stop her. And even more frustrating, every time they laid a trap for her, she somehow avoided it.

But now, he was sure they had her. They had found out about one of her jump points that she used heavily when lauching raids along the Hyridian Way, which she was currently terrorizing. They also believed that she would use it on her return leg home. So a plan had been made in the utmost secrecy. Even the High Council knew nothing of it. It had been billed as a training run for his new task force. Not even his crew knew of what was going on.

"Admiral, all forces report ready for their first jumps. All starfighters report ready also." came the all from the communications pit. Ackbar smiled, and nodded.

"Excellent. Has their been any world from the NRI about their current mission?" he asked, hope in his voice. They had recently recieved several leads on recent Imperial activites, including an apparent attempt by the Empire to bring in the few remaining Imperial Warlords. So far, it seemed that few attempts had been succesfull, although a few Imperials still located in the core had vanished, and it was assumed that they had returned to the Empire.

"No Admiral, no word from any NRI sources. Shall I keep you informed?" she asked, and Ackbar nodded slowly.

"Yes, please. Inform me the moment you recieve word from them. And contact all groups. Tell them to begin their countdowns. The training mission is to begin at the top of the hour." he said, and he leaned forward in his chair. Perhaps today, the recent events that had stained the Navys' reputation would be overshadowed slightly. He could only hope.

*********************************************************

Grand Admiral Teshik sat in his command chair, and lightly sipped at the tea that he held in his hand. he carefully stared into several holographic reports that scrolled in front of him, a smile growing on his face.

"It is so nice to know that the NRI is sill capable of dancing to the tune that the Empire plays. I wonder when they will realise they are running around in circles, shasing ghosts?" he mused, and Pelleon looked over to him from his station.

"I doubt it will take them very long. The NRI is a very capable organization, and not prone to chasing false leads for extended periods of time." he said, and Teshik nodded.

"So I have noticed. They have stopped going after all the little leads we have been giving them about our finicial escapades in their territory. And they have stopped hunting for the pair of cruisers I had sent close to the core on a pointless scouting mission. Perhaps it is time we give them something bigger to search for?" he asked and Pelleon nodded.

"I think it may be. We do not want them looking to closely at us right now, not with what we are preparing for." Pelleon said, bringing to mind the planned mutli-point strike an new Republic worlds that they had been considering for the near future. Personally, Pelleon thought it was foolish, but he had given Teshik joint command of the Empire, and Teshik had talked him into going along with the plan.

"Of course. We will make sure they do not notice our fleet movements to soon, be sure of that." Teshik said, and as pelleon was about to make another comment, an officer in the comm pit looked up to the both of them.

"Admirals, our scouts are reporting in. All New Republic forces under their watch have made leaps to hyperspace, along predicted routes. We also have information on the approximate composition of each force." he said, and Teshik smiled.

"Excellent. Well, I guess Ackbar decided trapping Tavira was just to good an opportunity to pass up, wouldn't you agree?" he asked, and Pelleon nodded.

"She has been causing them a large amount of trouble as of late. And considering how we have bloodied them as of late, they have to make up for it somehow. It would make sence for them to deal with Tavira." he said, and Teshik laughed.

"Well put Admiral. It is rather unfortunate, however, that Ackbar will no be getting very far with this plan of his. Contact the Entrapment, and have them power up their gravity wells. I think it is time we bring Tavira back into the fold." he said, and he leaned back in his chair to await the arrival of the pirate fleet.

Admiral Tavira, former Imperial Moff, now a rouge Imperial in command of hte largest pirate force in the galaxy, was in a happy mood. And she had every right to be in one.

In the past several days, her forces had attacked, boarded, and sacked over a dozen cruise liners, stealing millions in credits from the richest citizens of the New Republic. She had launched an improptu raid on a New Republic supply depot that had found itself painfully underdefended, and had taken its entire stash aof valuable Proton Torpedoes and Bacta, along with a mountian of starfighter parts. And, as one last suprise bonus, she had destroyed a slave convoy headed for Hutt space, a convoy of slavers that had angered her in the recent past.

And through it all, she had avoided even moderate casualties to her vessels. It was the one thing that kept her forces loyal to her, her ability to keep them all alive, even with the New Republic hunting for them all.

Now, her force was making its' way back to their home sector, where they would rest for a few weeks, enjoying the spoils of their recent travels. And she was certain that during this time, she would find a new man for her own pleasure, being as her last one found it prudent to fly his starfighter into the path of a turbolaser.

As Tavira sat there, she felt a presence walk up behind her. She automatically knew who it was, only one person was allowed to walk this close to her without asking permission. She did not even turn to acknowledge him, she simply nodded slowly. The Jensaari behind her recognized the command, and spoke softly.

"Admiral, I have senced a threat to you. But I do not know where it comes from." he said, and Tavira looked up to him.

"What do you mean? is it to far into the future for you to see yet, or is from multiple sources?" she asked, and the Jensaari shook his head.

"I cannot answer for certain. I can only say what I know for certain." he said, and Tavira nodded, and stood up from her chair.

"Raise the alert status to red. Prepare all starfighters for launch upon our revision to realspace. Upon revision, I want all our forces to form a shell around my vessel. We will go from their depending on what we are facing." she said, and she watched carefully as her orders were carried out.

As she walked towards the forward viewport to await the revision to realspace, she felt a sudden lurch, and fell forward. before she even hit the deck, she knew what it was. her vessel had been yanked from hyperspace by a gravity well.

She shot to her feet, and began barking orders. But then she stopped, and stared out the viewport. In front of her vessel, just outside the range of her guns, sat a trio of Star Destroyers, and an Interdictor cruiser. She knew that the New Republic had dozens of Star Destroyers, and a few Interdictors that they had captured, but flying around the vessels in tight formations were squadrons of TIE fighters, whcih the New Republic never used.

As she stared at them, the comm officer looked over to her, a worried, yet confused look on his face.

"Admiral, we are recieveng a communication from the vessels in fron of us. They claim to be from the Empire. They wish to speak with you." he said, and Tavira slowly nodded. her only real thought was why the Empire had any reason to threaten her, and what they were doing so far from their territory.

"Put it through. Contact all vessels, and order them into formation around us, and then wait for orders. If those vessle makes a move towards us, I want to know, understood?" she said, and the comm officer nodded. Tavira then stalked over to her holographic comm center, and awaited the picture of whoever was in command of the Imperial vessels. The man who appeared before her was far from anyone she would have thought would be here.

"Admiral Tavira, it is good to see you alive and well." Pelleon said, and Tavira nodded.

"Likewise, Admiral. May I ask why you decided to yank my fleet out of hyperspace?" she asked still wondering what was going on.

"My reasons for doing this were many, but mainly to save you from a rather tragic fate. I recieved information that the New Republic had dicovered the location of your main base, and was preparing an ambuch for you there, one that you would not have escaped. I decided to intervene, as you are a valuabe resource to the Empire, oent hat cannot be allowed to go to waste." he said, and Tavira nodded cautiously. If Pelleon wanted to play to her ego, her certainly knew how to do it. But he was being far to obvious about it, and this confused her.

"It is nice of you to think that Admiral, but I am no longer a part of your Empire. I have not been for quite some time now. What is it that you want?" she asked, quickly thining about the forces she had with her, and wether or not she could defend against his force. She knew that she could escape with her flagship, at the very least, but much of her smaller vessels would die helping her escape.

"I only ask for a moment of your time. If you would join me on my vessel, there is someone here that would like to spaek with you." he said, and Tavira slowly rocked back on her heels. Someone else? She had heard rumars that Pelleon had lost control of the Empire, but she had not belived them. But perhaps there was some truth to those rumors.

"Alright. Your claim that you saved me has bought you a meeting with me. But it will be on my vessel, Admiral, not yours." she said, and Pelleon nodded.

"That is acceptable Admiral Tavira. We will join you on your vessel within fifteen minutes." Pelleon said, and the hologram vanished. Tavira stood there for a moment, and then turned to her Jensaari.

"Did you sence anything threatening from him? Anything at all?" she askem dand the Jensaari shook his head.

"No, Admiral I did not. perhaps there is truth to his words?" he said, and Tavira nodded.

"Anything is possible. Contact a security team, and have them meet me in the main hanger bay. Tell them we have very specail guests arriving. And have moy forces stand down long enough for their shuttle to arrive." she said, and she walked out of the bridge. This was turing into a very interesting day indeed.

********************************************************

"Admiral, what are your orders?" the captain asked, and Ackbar sighed. He glanced at the chrono on his chair, and realised that Tavira woudl not be arriving. Once again, she had managed to elude them. And this frustrated him to no end. But, he knew there was nothing he could do about it now. All he could do was contunue on with the planned exercises.

"Contact all forces, and have them begin the second phase. What i expected to happen here has not happened." he said, and his captain looked to him quizzically.

"What was that Admiral, if I may ask?" he said, and Ackbar looked to him.

"I was hoping an old freind of ours woudl be here captain. But sadly she has decided not to bless us with her presence." he said, and the captain nodded, wondering who the Admiral was referring to. But he decided not to press further, and began issuing orders.

Ackbar listend to them half-heartedly, and watching at his force made the jump to hyperspace. It was going to be a very long day when he returned to Coruscant. A very long day indeed.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

Not exactly :( ; hope things get better for you BS. As we say in Texas "when the horse throws you off, you have to get back on again". I'm sure next time you'll be more cautious. Good Luck in 2006!

The story is great, keep up the good work!

Yeah just come to the boards in the last week but MAN.

This story has got to be the SWEETEST story i've ever read in terms of SW outside of the original Thrawn Trilogy. And not including what i consider to be the total dissapointment the Hand of Thrawn 2 books were.

Anyways this story is sweet as, as mentioned outside of the original trilogy i've read...a few star wars books, less than most because I usually only pick the bigger sellers rather than the more esoteric ones.

So you've so gotta post more as soon as you can.

I posted all your posts into a text file and printed it off 22 pages in all to read at the end of the night. I have an innate aversion to reading stories at the computer =p

But sweet story the best i've ever seen. Goes beyond fan fiction here and is totally novel worthy.

(Editors Note: Been working on the RP as of late with the guys, so I haven't had a lot of time top write the next part. And I will be jumping forward a bit, as trying to get Tavira to join us took over three sessions, and the following is what convinced her to join us. So I figured, what the hell, may as well just skip to the finale.

Also, this part will mark the beginning of the end of this part of the overall arc. The next portion will be named Empire Risen: Admirality)

Admiral Tavira stalked around the room, her mind moving quickly. She was no fool. She had looked over the plan Admiral Teshik had presented to her over and over again. She had asked every question she could think of, trying to convicer herself it could work. But she just could not see it happening.

"This is foolish, Admiral. There are to many unknown factors. To many changing variables. Your plan is follish, and will bring doom to your empire." Tavira said, her voice sharp. But Teshik sat in his seat calmly, smiling slightly.

"Oh, it will work. We simply have to adjust the unknown wariables to our needs, which is simply done. We tricked the New Republic into handing over its' Super Star Destroyer, and the life of one of its' greatest heroes, easily enough." he said, and Tavira turned to him.

"That was just one battle. A battle that could easily have turned against you. You got lucky." she said, and Teshik laughed, an eerie sound to say the least.

"My dear Tavira, that battle happened just as we wanted it to. Nothing could have gone wrong. Every aspect had been looked at, every possible problem covered. If anything had gone wrong, it would have been something well beyond our ability to control." Teshik said, a smile on his face. His smile forced Tavira to calm down slightly.

"I do have to admit, Admiral, that when I heard that the Lusankya had been captured by the Empire, I thought it was just a rumor. But then the New Republic announced it. I can certainly say that taking that one vessel has been the Victory the Empire needed tp prove they still had fight left in them." she said, and Teshik again nodded.

"And trust me, Tavira. We have a lot more fight left in us yet. Now, shall we go over the plans I have laid out before you again, to adress your concerns?" he asked, and Tavira nodded. Teshik smiled inwardly, knowing he was slowly winning her over. She was smart, he gave her that much. But subtle wordplay was well beyond her.

*********************************************************

"Admiral Cortvis, we have a comm signal from the Shadowblade. They say they have a quartet of Star Destroyers on their long range sensors. And none of our vessels are supposed to be there." Captain Treviss said quietly, and Cortvis perked his head slightly. He had been staring down at reports on their new weapon tracking systems, and was concentrating on memorizing all of it.

"Not ours? I doubt that. No Imperial vessels would be this far into our territory. There is nothing of value within a dozen lightyears of here. You would have to travel even farther to find anything worth attacking." he said, and the captain nodded.

"Regardless, sir, they are there. Could they be part of a warlords force?" the captain asked, and Cortvis thought about it a moment. Not many warlords had that kind of firepower anymore. And the few that did had either vanished in the past few months, or were still entrenched in the core.

"Again, highly doubtfull. But still, this is something we should investigate. Call all vessels back to our position. When they have all arrived, have them prepare for battle." he said, and he slowly stood from his seat. This was supposed to have been an easy patrol mission in a virtual dead zone. But perhaps it wasn't so dead afterall.

"Also, contact High Command. They will want to know of this." he said, and he began to wait for the rest of his forces to arrive. And once they did, they would jump to the unknown Star Destroyers, and see what was going on.

**********************************************************

Admiral Tavira and Admiral Pelleon were arguing once again over the merits of assassinating their enemies when the alarm sounded. They both looked up, and Teshik frowned. before any onf them could say anything, an esign ran into the room, breaking several regulations of the Imperial navy. Teshik reminded himself quickly to punish him later.

"Admirals, enemy vessels have left hyperspace near us. Sensors indicate nearly a dozen vessels, with starfighters launching. Intel syas thier IFF transponders match up with Admiral Cortvis' main patrol force." he said, and Teshik shot to his feet.

"Contact all vessels, have them set up in formation Beta-Six-Six. Launch all starfighters. We will be moving to the bridge. Keep me updated." teshik said, and he then turned to Tavira.

"Admiral, would you mind terribly if I borrowed your fleet for a while? I will need them to snuff out this nuisance." he said, and Tavira stared at him blankly. Her forces were no match for Admiral Cortvis and his battle hardened group. In her mind, they should run. But, she knew that with Teshik in command, they had a chance.

Then the truth hit her. Her forces had been sited moving in conjunction with Imperial vessels. She would no longer be considered a rouge Imperial by the New Republic. Now, she had no choice. Wether she liked it or not, she had to join with Teshik and Pelleon, or face the reality of running for the rest of her existance.

"Of course Admiral. And just so you know, I have considered your offer. I think I will be joining the Empire once again." she said, and Teshik grinned.

"Like you had a choice." he said, and he left the room, Pelleon following him quickly. And finally, Tavira understood. This was all going according to his plan. She had been lured into a trap she could not escape. And now she knew the caliber of the mastermind she was dealing with.

*********************************************************

"Admiral, IFF transponders mark the vessels as Imperial. One of them is the Invidious." Captain Treviss remarked, and Cortviss scoffed.

"So, Pelleon finally got Tavira back. Good for him. To bad she will not make it back to safer space. have our lighter ships move back to gaurd our flanks. Order the Lightning and Swordplay move forward from us. lets keep this quick and clean." he said, and he smiled. he outgunned his enemies, and had caught them off gaurd. This battle was hs to win, and no one elses.

Push! Push! Push!Just a little

Push! Push! Push!A little further

Push! Push! Push!Just a little bit

Push! Push! Push!A little bit mooooore!)

Admiral Tavira walked out onto the bridge, to find a sea of calm. Personel sat at their stations awaiting orders. The captain stared out the viewport silently. She turned her head slowly, and took everything in. This was far from the flurry of activity that one would normally findon the bridge of a vessel about to engage a superior force in battle.

"Admiral tavira, so nice of you to join us. Tell me, what is the total stength ofyour flagship?" Teshik asked her, and Tavira smiled.

"The Invidious is in as excellent condition as this vessel. Her hull may have some scars, but those are to lure fools into thinking her an easy target. Every turret onthe vessel is operational. And shehas a full complement of Clutches ready for launch." Tavira said, and Teshik nodded.

"Most excellent. I will keep your starfighters back, as I do not believe they will beup to engaging New Republic fighter pilots. As for the rest of your fleet, I will disperse them in a scattered pattern. That way the enemy vessels won;t be able to simply swarmthem withturbolaser blasts." Teshik said, and Tavira nodded.

"Admiral, the enemy vessels are changing formations. The two Victory-class Star Destroyers aremoving forward, and the Imperial class is moving back. It seems the Calamari cruisers are moving to flank the Imperial class. Enemy support vessels are moving to ring the heavy vessels." the Captain said, and Pelleon smiled.

"Does he always use that formation when engaging inferior forces? Predictobility like that can only lead to disaster." he said, and Teshik nodded.

"Very true. But our dear Cortviss has never had to deal with much more thanyou average Imperial or pirate band. Perhaps we should teach him that we are neither? Have our forces move forward at one half power, withthe starfighters keeping pace. If I am correct, he will mave his bombers fly ahead to try and damage our heavy ships first." Teshik said, and Tavira turned to watch his order be carried out.

Slowly, the tow fleets moved towards one another. After a few minutes, vessels beganfiring test shots of their weapons, trying tp pick off fighters that were beginning to stray into range. A flash here and there announced hits. Tavira wondered how many of them were Imperial pilots. But she new it wouldn't matter in the long run. The New Republic forces were doomed from the moment they entered the system.

*******************************************************

"Admiral, we are almost within firing range. Several starfighter squadrons have reported losses from stray turbolaser blasts." Captain Treviss said, and Cortviss nodded.

"Pull our starfighters back, and prepare our heavy bomber to make runs on the Star Destroyers. Have our starfighters escort them in. Their TIE fighters won;t be able to hold them back, outnumbered as they are." Cortviss said, and Treviss looked at him.

"Send all of them? Are you sure that is wise Admiral?" Treviss asked, and Cortviss nodded.

"Yes. Our starfighters will allow our bombers to hit their targets without being bothered to much. And then our starfighters can take out their fighters. We will not have top worry about reprisals. " he said, and Treviss nodded slwoly, unconvinced.

*******************************************************

"Admiral, sensors show enemy starfighters are moving faorward, with heavy bombers not far behind. Shall we have starfighter move forward to engage?" the captain asked, and Teshik nodded.

"yes, but only the starfighters. Let the bombers get closer, then release the Sabres to deal withthem." he said, a smile on his lips. He watched as dozens of TIE fighters and Interceptors raced out to engage the oncoming New Republic starifghters. He watched on his sensors as they reached each other, and the entire force of starfighters became to much to follow.

But then, the bombers began to set up on for their runs against the Star Destroyers. There was easily a wing of them, more then enough to heavily damage or destroy a number of his vessels. To bad they would never got to that point.

"Launch the Sabres, and have them move to engage the bonbers. I dont want any of them to make it within launching range." Teshik said, and Pelleon smiled. This was going to get very interesting very quickly.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.
