I downloaded warlords .45 and installed it and it crashes during Loading Universe. This happens in single player and player vs CPU skirmashes BUT for someone reason the link labeled Warlords SP Test on my desktop starts up and loads fine.. I can watch teh star destroyer fight the 2 frigates and x-wings etc...

I have a legal copy (uncracked) of homeworld 2 and have upgraded to 1.1 (the menu says so). AMD 3200+ 2.2ghz, 1gb DDR3200, 9600 Saphire Radeon 128mb video.

I really want to play this mod.. someone help!! :(

I can only suggest updating your video drivers. If that isn't it, I recommend reinstalling. Not much more we can do :(

I don't know what happens with a cracked version.. you won't really get any support for it. But have you tried:

a) creating a new player profile?

b) updating your video card?

Most people just play with resource injections anyway.

This happens to me, but what happens is that it only crashes while loading the maps that came with the mod. Same for the Clone Wars mod too. But the original maps load fine and have encountered pretty much no errors or crashes with those. BTW my version is not cracked, its full retail, and registered. It is also version 1.1 btw.

Hmm, I use to get this problem sometimes as well - and of rescent it appears to occur only when loading a saved game (but then again, it's been quiet a while since playing the mod).

I'm pretty sure I did a few things - first was persistance. If at first you don't succeed, keep bloody trying 'till it works!

Sometimes I'd restart my computer and then try again without running anything else etc. But in the end it seemed to be an overall problem that was semi intermitent.

It seems as if while loading something (generally something large, like the galaxy or a saved game database) the game simple gets overloaded and crashes to the desktop.

The last time I played the game, I first uninstalled the mod and then the game. Re-installed the game and then played HW2 normally for a bit and then installed the 1.1 patch, played a bit, and then the actual mod was installed. It seems to have made it more stable for me - so you might want to give that a shot.

Otherwise you might be stuck with the default HL2 maps (which are generally phisically smaller than most of the Warlord maps as well). RU Injections is an option you can turn on in the Skirmish menu somewhere. This pretty much makes it so that every x minutes you recieve y RU without a harvester needed - it makes it far easier for large fleet battles and quick build ups, but also dimishes the whole need for supply and for smaller ships.

Must admit i only discovered them recently. Go to the menu that you use to select your map, race and enemies / allies. Move your mouse to the top of the screen. You'll notice a drop down box (or it appears when you click)on the 'rules' section. You can change it to 'Warlords 4.5'. If you do this you will then have many more options to play with :)

I was having the exact same problem. It would load the SP test but when I tried Player vs CPU, it would sit on Universe and then boot me out. Reinstalled everything, no change. I was getting frustrated. Then I read this thread and had an idea: I made sure that all of the computers were set to Rebellion, Empire, or Yuuzhan Vong, instead of random. I tried it again, and it hung on universe even longer than normal. I pretty much lost all hope at that point. And then, all of the sudden it continued loading and everything worked fine! I suggest you try this.
