Defender_16 Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I am so amazed that the Republic Class Cruiser came arround so fast I'm going to make a general request for Yuuzhan Vong ships. With even a handfull of models it should be possible the create a NJO Total conversion. The starting Request would be the Yuuzhan Vong Matalok Cruiser. It's equivilant to an MC-80 Mon Cal cruiser in size and shape. But looking more like a large rounded rock. lol (Their firepower should atleast match that of an ISD and they carry a full 6 squadrons of fighters. Though that won't make any difference to the model I thought I might point it out. )
Krytos Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Well, I'm busy and most of my spare time will be going towards Reloaded so I'll sit this one out (though this is one of the ships on my "To do list" ) For those interested, here's an image of one hiding behind Leia's head.http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/5824/onslaught2ig.th.jpg http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
DarthTofu Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Is that Onslaught in Japanese? Can you actually read Japanese Since most of the schools in the U.S. don't teach Japanese I'm going to guess that you either learned it for fun (IN which case you would get along with my sister) or you are Japanese and learned English... Or one of your parents is Japanese and the other speaks English, so they taught you. Or else you could have just gotten that off of the web. But if you want to make a Yuzhan Vong TC it should be very easy.1: Gather several rocks of varying shades and sizes2: take digital pictures of them and upload them into your computer3: Congradulations, you now have a Yuzhan Vong fleet... with no soldiers at all. Still, it could work. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Guest JediIgor Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Here's another picture,http://www.njoe.com/books/covers/dt1.jpg And I'd venture to say that's Chinese because there's no kana but I could be wrong, . In general, I am pretty sure that EvilleJedi has made a model of this before, although not for Rebellion.

Bingo!I'm in Australia for starters, and only speak english (though I can speak some words in Italian and Indonesian thanks to compolsary LOTE lessons at school). And it's generally pretty bad english. As for the pic, it's from theforce.net's book section, foreign cover and Japanese cover in particular. It's only a small crop because the original image was 12 something meg. Hmm, that rock idea has merit EDIT: Well, my group needed me to show off some modelling trials - as if I were learning something - for a project. So what better than a really, bloody ugly and weird looking thing to create from scratch. So model done, textures to come http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/3874/matalok017lm.th.jpghttp://img295.imageshack.us/img295/7805/matalok038zd.th.jpghttp://img295.imageshack.us/img295/9323/matalok044zf.th.jpghttp://img295.imageshack.us/img295/3860/matalok057fj.th.jpg http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/2772/matalok027ku.jpg http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
DarthTofu Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 That could be one of those Gungan cruisers, or a Yuzhan Voong Cruiser if you roughen it up a bit... What program did you use to make that? Auto Cad, or something? I'm just curious, since I want to learn how to make this stuff. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away

Defender_16 Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 Wow. Nice model so far I just want to point out one thing. In the early NJO books it's stated that while the Vong Cruisers are slightly smaller than ISD's in length and width, their rounded shape make them mass a fair bit more. I don't want to sound like I'm nitpicking but could it be a bit "taller." Almost like it's overweight after eating too much. Going for phat. rofl ( Off topic ness: I need to start taking my camera with me in the car. I keep seeing the perfect clouds for different ship designs. I've seen about a dozen different Perfect Mon Cal cruiser clouds just this year. )
Krytos Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 Hmm, I'll get onto feeding the Vong cruiser - he'll have a bear belly in no time Anywho, here's it with textures though non-bloated:http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/3242/matalok013hy.th.jpghttp://img374.imageshack.us/img374/7571/matalok034nx.th.jpghttp://img374.imageshack.us/img374/9214/matalok048qj.th.jpghttp://img374.imageshack.us/img374/3677/matalok059yi.th.jpghttp://img374.imageshack.us/img374/3532/matalok060ye.th.jpg http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/7105/matalok023gu.jpg I'll release this model soon and create a "fatter" version as well. And following the off-topic part, I started carrying a camera around as well to take photos of clouds (which generally come out bad if done poorly due to over exposure) . . . only ever took a few, and never of the best one's - like one that looked like a Corellian Corvette.Oh well . . . http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif

Mad78 Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 I always had the impression a vong cruiser looks like a big rock. A Basic shape with a bit of noise should give you a vong lookalike. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
AdmiralToguroAni Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Looks nice! In fact, it looks a lot like the Strike Cruiser from Mask's site, but with different textures, or am I just imagining things? Count Dooku is the strongest Star Wars character as depicted in the movies. All hail Christopher Lee.
DarthTofu Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Come to think of it, it might be helpful if you took away from the symmetry of the ship some. NAture doesn't tend to be symmetrical with it's rocks... Unless they're at the core of a planet. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Defender_16 Posted August 20, 2005 Author Posted August 20, 2005 They have a rough symetry for the most part, and it's kind of like the Mon Cal cruisers in that every ship is different. And I'm sure you know how different looking Mon Cal ships are in Rebellion. It's easier just to make them symetrical for now. Mabey it's something you can suggest for Rebellion 2? And the red I'm guessing is from Iron in the rocks the ships eat. (I wonder if those rocks are high in fiber? ) So far the design is rockin geddit? Rock?...yeah *Crowd groans*
DarthTofu Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 /me groans, too. That was truly terrible. Almost as bad as "A guy with a sock on his head walks into the bar. THe Bartender says 'why do you have a sock a sock on your head?' The man smiles, opens his mouth, and implodes". Like i said, terrible jokes. Though a great follow up of this is "What's crying out in agony, covered in it's own blood, and screaming "Gah! My leg! My leg! You ripped off my leg!? Answer: Someone who didn't laugh at my joke " 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Krytos Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Righto . . . Anyway, the red is . . . I got no idea, it was in the pics I was bassing it off and it looked cool, so there you go As for the model(s), they're done. They look fine in game, but crap in Rebellion again - but I've got a little problem with both. When centered on them with the camera function, it actually looks off to the right of the ship and pivots around it as well.I've tried a few things which havn't worked - so I've got another idea currently to try, and hopefully that'll fix it and then I'll release the two of 'em. http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
Defender_16 Posted August 22, 2005 Author Posted August 22, 2005 I had an idea. Do you still have the flatter version of the cruiser? Cause if you do it can just be re-used as the Vong Carrier Analog. I'm sorry I don't know much about modeling so I have no idea about the centering issue. I know I had problems the first few times I imported the Dominator but it went away.
Krytos Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 Problemo fixed! Not going to bore anyone with the details, but she works and is fatter than the original - you can pick her up on your way home through the model section of the website for a low, low price of 251 kbs http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
Defender_16 Posted August 27, 2005 Author Posted August 27, 2005 HUZZAH! .... ...... .... I can't find it. Perhaps it has not yet been added to the model list by the host? I can already tell from your post that it is a masterfuly done ship. (I could already tell from your other previews.) *Stamps list of thing to collect for the mod*[CRUISER ANALOG COMPLETE] I hate to impose on you for so much but this should be easy(-er). If you scale the model up 20-30% that would easily fit the Heavy Cruiser Analog. (Using this model as a base, all you would need to do is increase or decrease the scale to create almost all of the other Vong ships. ) If anyone else could do the same I'd be happy. And take your time. I'm way behind schedule.
Krytos Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Woops, forgot about the time it takes until you can actually download the model Umm, our supplier is running late - shipments will be arriving soon! As for your idea D16, it would work - but I'd prefer to make new models with new looks for each ship.I'll have to have a look for any art work on vong stuff. That being said, I'm flat out so that ain't hapening any time soon http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
Defender_16 Posted August 28, 2005 Author Posted August 28, 2005 The only pictures you ever see of Vong ships are few and far between. Corralskippers show up fairly often on the North American book covers. The only time a cruiser was on a NA cover was Onslaught. That being said the Japanese cover for onslaught was much better. http://web.ripnet.com/~jdprosper/NJODesktop.gif The only other time Vong ships are shown on a cover are some (poorly done) Cruisers in the Japanese part 2 of The Unifying force. Everything else is by description, which sometimes changes per author. I'll list off what I can. Corvette Analog Slightly shorter than the Corellian Corvette, this lump of coral could almost be described as blocky. Normally used for surface landings they have a mostly flat bottom. (I know less about this class than any other.) Frigate Analog These oblong ships almost look like a slightly larger more rounded version of the Lancer Frigate. Light Cruiser AnalogEssentially a Cruiser Analog that still has some growing up to do. Carrier AnalogThe only book I remember these actually being dscribed in was Agents of Chaos II durring the attack on Fondor. Heavy Cruiser Analog These ships start out big and grow even bigger. The younger ones outpower an ISDII. As they grow and take damage in battle, the hulks of smaller ships are grafted onto it. Eventually this type of growth can result in a ship like the massive 'Legacy of Torment' as seen at Ithor. (I'm just going to have one fixed set of stats for these ships.) Warmater Tasavong Lah commanded from a ship of this type, the Sunnlok (sp?) Which was destroyed at Coruscant.
DarthTofu Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Your forgetting about the landing ships. Aren't those basically fairly short, boxy, lumps of Yorik Coral? Then there are the Worldships to consider... Wish I could help on these, but I'm too lazy... 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Defender_16 Posted August 29, 2005 Author Posted August 29, 2005 I forget nothing about the Yuuzhan Vong... I just intentionally leave stuff out sometimes to minimize confusion. The Yorrik Trema Landing craft or "Crate" is a good sized boxy transport used to land troops in hostile environments. When it comes to landing things like a Rakamaat or setting up Damutek's the Vong bring in Corvette, Frigate or larger transport analogs. The Crate would not work well in Rebellion as a ship type for the same reasons we don't see the Lambda class shuttles or Landing craft puting regular troops down on a planet. It would have to be designated as a fighter to fit aboard the larger cruisers, and it would need to be a ship to carry the troops. Rebellion isn't quite that good and won't be until we get the source code. (You would need atleast 4 Crates to land 1 troop regiment.) And the worlship would be so hard to model that I literally don't want to ask somone to do it. http://www.swrebellion.com/forums/postt2815.html *Mock trial* Judge: "As punishment for your cromes you will be forced to model a Yuuzhan Vong Worldship." H4x0r: "NOOOOOooooOoOOooooo!"
