Gameplay issues on Clone wars

Hi

I've been playing, or rather "trying to play" clone wars and the game starts out fine, i can build, research mine, attack stuff. I have low visual setting so the game does not lag when i start battles (in single player by the way) but then at some random point for some random reason the game freezes (music still plays) and the computer begins to act like if it is loading a huge file and I can sit and wait but nothing happens so I always have to end up alt-f4-ing out of the game and to the desktop. the weird thing is that it does not crash! it just freezes and i know itsnot lag because it sometimes freezes even when there are no ships on the screen.

 

So what's up with this. help anyone?

-sorry if this has been solved or answered before but i just got the game and there are LOADS of posts i would need to read and the search did not turn anything up.

-I have not tried the "regular" warlords mod YET, downloading now.

Whell what do you know the same thing happens with Warlord too!

 

What the hell?

This time I left the computer to load whatever overnight and went to sleep. THis morning I found that the game was not running and that apparently this time it DID crash after a while. I found an error log and a dump file on the game directory.

You may need to update your video drivers.

What video card do you have? Other system specs?

I run windows XP on a AMD athlon 2000+ processor. 191mb of memory the drivers for my ATI Radeon IGP 320M are up to date as far as I could find. I guess maybe I need to install the Omega Radeon drivers what do you recommend?

 

EDIT: It does it on other mods too... I'm checking to see if a different video driver version helps. Still any suggestions?

I've had problems with the IGP 320M on my old laptop. Mainly it is just not build to handle that much.

 

Try the Omega drivers or the DNA drivers. If it doesn't help, then you're really outta luck

Ok, installed the omega drivers and I tested it on the PDS Mod and it seems to work fine now. I will reinstall to test with warlords next.

 

Which one is a better option though Omega or DNA?

I have also noticed a little bit of lag (which is new) would lowering my resolution help and how does it?

Ok, YAY My drivers WERE updated its just that the game likes the DNA drivers a lot better than my standard Radeon ones.

 

The Mod works ok now but I still notice a lot of lag and Im wondering if there is anything else I can do to try and increase performance. I don't know how to tweak the "advanced" driver settings to squeeze some more juice and also I am dark as far as overcloking goes so I really could use tips on software and driver tweaks to increase performance. Other than that I'm pretty much stuck with my mobility IGP 320. Laptops are soo... frustrating.

 

Thanks a lot for the help Evader! I hope someone can help with me with the performance issue though.

I can't really help on performance.. the IGP video cards suck. I use them still, because laptops are cheap.

 

Kiaser_Joe, did you install the 1.1 patch? Did you create a new player profile?
