Skie Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 What’s better for research a group working together or everyone working apart? I’ve wondered this for some time but have never been able to truly figure it out.
Guest JediIgor Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Who the heck knows? I know I don't . Even in real life nobody knows!
Kellern Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 In my exerience, having each character research individually has worked the best. You can group them together increasing the chance of a successful research mission, but it also slows down the amount of attempts. Rebel characters have about a 50% success rate and the same goes for the Imperials except Bevel, who gets a higher success chance. Diplomacy works the same way. Take a large group of characters with bad diplomacy and group them together. Each diplomatic mission attempt will get a hidden roll to see if a character is successful. If the attempt is successful, there is a change in loyalty for the system, if not, you get a failed attempt message and the diplomat will continue the mission until you tell them to stop or continue till the system is 100%. When you group a few characters together, each character gets a hidden roll. If one is successful, the diplomacy mission is a success and the diplomacy for the system is adjusted and the character who got the successful roll will get a diplomacy adjustment to their permanent statistics. If a research mission is successful, there is not an adjustment for the character. Mind you, this is all based on what I have experienced with the game. I have not delved into the code side of the game, so this is based on opinion and not fact, so take it for what it is worth.
Eko Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Well IRL, it is my opinion that a combination works best. Liasing as a team, with individuals or pair (which I find work well) reporting back in with their findings, you can get a lot done. Thats just my opinion of real life. In game I have my researchers work at the closest location they can, so they usualy end up apart anyway. I've just remembered i've got a signature!
DarthTofu Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 I tend to group up my people, just because I have bad luck and get no success in such missions (It's a glitch. Just like the one where I lose the game on hard) 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Darth_Rob Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 I always have my R&D team work solo missions. I never tried to team them up, so I never personally saw the difference.
