I am getting ready to buy Homeworld just because of this mod. I don't know what my pc needs. I also don't know how to install the mod. If someone could just give me a basic rundown of what I need, that'd be great. Also, I'm running on a stock HP Pavilon Home Edition with XP.

This is what I'm worried about.

==GeForce or ATI Radeon 7500 video card with 32 MB RAM

==Hardware Transform and Lighting (T and L)

==OpenGL

==DirectX 9.0 support

You mean the game won't work? How much would the required card run me?

Warlords you get lag with every card ;)

But seriously, I've gotten Homeworld 2 to work on my Radeon 9000 IGP. So it is possible. It isn't fast, but it plays

If I got it, tryed it and it didn't work, would they take it back? I saw it on Amazon for $14. They wouldn't take it back but maybe if I can get it that cheap, it wouldn't matter so much.

If you're terribly worried about it not working, you should probably just go to the official site or something and check what the system requirements are.

I have the requirements but I don';t know a whole lot about video cards. That's the only thing I'm worried about. I don't know if my PC has the right card because I can't find where it is. I have a stock HP paviloon Home Edition of XP. How much does a video card like the one needed cost?

Radeon 7500 video card with 32 MB RAM

That's what I have, HW2 won't run there. It will give you a error message when you run the game.

For a good video card you might be willing to spend at least $150, if you want one on the long run think in the $300 range. Check http://newegg.com you may find something there for your needs. (Get at least something with 128MB)

I can get a GeForce 6600 GT OC (BFG) for $156 CAD from Future Shop so you should be able to find one for cheaper if you're in the US.

You should really only aim for a card that will allow you to play the game how you want it (shadows etc.). If you aim high you'll just be dissapointed. Even with my new GPU and processor I get lag...

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

That raedon thing is what it says to get on the system requirments.

(knowing the last post was 7 days ago) Adthrawn to find out you what video/gfx card you have just right-click on my computer and choose properties then go to the tab called 'Hardware' and click on 'Device manager' once in there expand the 'Display adapters' selection and it should tell you what card you have post back here (apologies if i've misread anything and you've actually said what your card is already i'll put it down to me being tired :P) also from experience I was able to run this on a GF3 TI200 64mb gfx fairly well in high detail without many problems in most battles excluding the HUGE ones of course. Also from what i can gather most gfx cards that are fairly decent (128mb up ie GF5xxx series up and ATI 9xxx up) post HW2 will run the game with ease as it's not really the gfx card (excluding laptop models), in my experience that is the cause for 'lag' in most cases i'd put it down to CPU power. My advice to you would be to have a CPU equiv or above AMD athlonXP 2400+ or P4 2.6ghz and a gfx card with or above 128mb nVidia GF5xxx up or ATI 9xxx up (personally i wouldn't use ATI cards unless you're looking at 9600 series or greater as they don't perform as well as nVidias collection do from my experience). I hope this all helps and that it's not a bit too late to be of any use good luck anyway.

Wow, since S3 is defunct, and has been for a few years, you should probably get a new card. I'm willing to bet even today's budget cards outperform that thing.

Like I said before. It's just a stock CPU. What's the cheapest card that will work with this game?

Try any Radeon 95xx series. They are not expensive, there are version with even 256MB RAM and they are great.

Beside this i would recommend adding more system memory.....

It may or may not work with your card but for $14 it's not a great deal to lose and then if it does/doesn't work you know what you have to do. I'd buy it for $14 thats very cheap after all and I think it will work but don't expect the mod to run much faster than most peoples even I get trouble. Anyway good luck hope you end up buying HW2 :D

yeah dude you're gonna need a new card for warlords. It lagged up my AMD 64 3200+, 1GB RAM, and PCI x16 GeForce 6600GT when alot of ship were in the game. On you computer go to Start>Run and type in "dxdiag". Hit enter. That will tell you most everything you need to know for games. Tell us what you CPU is, how much RAM you have, and we already know what you GFX card is. I don't suppose you know if your motherboard has an AGP 8x slot or not do you? How old is you HP and what product # does it have. If you can provide me with this info I can prolly tell you what you'll need.
