Well, I dont see any reason not to support his endeavor. Lets not be too pessimistic because he's doing it to help all of us. Good luck!

Well, its just that most of us veterans of the board who remember a fellow named JediGreg promised us much too..and when I was chatting with Igor many months ago or maybe last year about it, nothing happened.

I am sorry but for the guys who were around back before the switch to these new boards we have seen a lot of false promises and other things being made etc and after a while one can only shrug your shoulders with indifference.

Would it be cool, yes if the source code was released.

Will it happen, very doubtful.

Well we can hope. Even if it is unlikely. He is trying to help...

I think that as time goes on, the slim possibility that such source code would be released gets more likely. Remember Rebellion is almost 10 years old. Nothing about it's coding is super secret, unique, or in any way technologically advanced by today's standards.

Its LucasArts. They are nazis when it comes to source codes. We wont gt it released.
I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

With the release date of Empire at War approaching (and by that I mean next year), LucasArts will be less-likely than ever to release the source code to a game that is EW's superior in every way except graphics. The source code would allow us to modify this game to such an extent that we wouldn't need to buy Empire at War, which is where LucasArts looses interest in helping us. That, and by releasing it they loose some of the controle they have over Rebellion.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Agreed.

I think I still would buy Empire at War regardless of wether we managed to get the source code or not... Besides from the early previews, it sounds like EaW is gonna take several themes from Rebellion and incorporate them into EaW...

I may not buy EaW over SWR anyway, depends how good it looks when it comes out. Until then the jury is out. Good point GAT, you've just punctured my dreams :(

If you've actually got the source code, then I'd have them forward it to you, then give it to Evaders or Mask. They might miss it if they're not expecting it, so I'd take it and send it to them if I were you

All of you out there who think the code will be released just read Jahled's response to mine on the thread 'Flat out tired' or something along those lines. I tried for a month or so to get the sourcecode with not even a response from LucasArts, and while it would be cool, Jahled makes a most valid point.

Also Admiral Thrawn makes a good point about the whole EaW thing.

So just face it. No matter how ambitious you think you are, or may be there is always someone to rival you in terms of greed. People suck ass, and it is a fact.

We aren't getting the sourcecode...-.-

Except, you really have a friend in there bobandrubert. If so, you could ask him about the whole process with that code. :)

Well that letter should be recieved by the Lucas game production team, or the section where they deal with all rights and licenses of their products.

Its true that 'friends in high places' could count for something in this instance. At any rate if you can get the code cool, if not no biggie.

But if we could ever get our hands on it, you can bet, that we'd take it apart and redesign several things

It would be increible if it could be pulled off. Of course it might delay Rebellion Reloaded a bit whilst more modding is put into the project!

Who is Gewirtz? All I see is he's attached to Battlefront and Clone Wars games. Did he even work on Rebellion?

The only chance would be if you actually had talked to a programmer that worked on the entire code (not likely, they would never be allowed to release it legally) or you had talked to LucasArts management (who may have the power to actually get this done).

Nice try man. Hmm, well we need to contact someone who has more authority in these matters. We could go straight to the top:

Fomr the Lucas Arts site

ATSUKO MATSUMOTO

Senior Director Production Services

LucasArts, A Lucasfilm Ltd. company

If we could contact him we might get further...

Although the game was developed by 'Coolhand Interactive', these appear to have gone out of business after producing only Rebellion. We could try and look for information down that sort of line of inquiry with LucasArts.
