Model Requests-For Clone Wars TC

I am making a TC for the Clone Wars. I only need some models then I'll be able to move along steady from there. Some of the models i'd like are

+Venator Star Destroyer

+Trade Federation Cruiser(Invisible Hand)

+Comerace Guild ship

+Republic Troop transport

+And a Alligance Star Destroyer

 

I know this a tall order but It would greatly help my TC move along.

Well i have a Venator in the works and my Trade Federation Droid Battleship is nearly finished. I guess i could make the other. i shall see.

Well after taking Mad's advice and getting Gmax and downloading Mask's tutoirals on models i'm starting to try and make my first. Although I first have to figure out how to use Gmax

 

I've looked at the untaken models you need and decided that they are probably too hard for a beginner, I assume that starfighters are the easiest so if I work out how its all done I could try and do the droid starfighters if you need them?

Am I correct in assuming that star fighters are easiset?

Well it depends which starfighter and what level of detail you want for it.

The idea was to start (as a beginner) with the Droid star fighter as it is not that compicated a shape. Two 'fins' attacked to the central body with its 'head'. It seems a fair starting challenge.

 

It is not really particular questions I have it is more the fact that I am completely new to digital imaging. It is always a skill I have wanted to learn but i've never really taken a single step towards it till now. So really any advice you could give, either posted as a walkthrough here or an external URL that you cold recommened to help me learn would be good thanks. Just some step by step to help me learn. Even something to teach me the basic skils of imaging as I have no previous experience would be good!

correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the republic troop ship the acclamator assualt shuttle?

or the same one as from basic rebellion with more guns

Now i've had a look at the ships you've (adthrawn) mentioned and they all seem quite hard. Can't find any reference to the Alligance, but as a star destroyer it shouldn't be too hard to do. A few pics as a reference are needed though. If you have any others i'll look them over and give them my best shot

best way to see what that thig looks like is to hire or load up epi 1 and watch the start a couple dozen times.

The allegiance is a fan made file. I have the 3d file but its a .max file. All my 3d programs only use .3ds files. You know what, I'll post the max file. I'll have it up today.

Once on another person's PC, took a look at the baffling interface and gave up almost immediatley. I've just downloaded it and i'll give it a go. As I said before im a complete digital imaging Noob so we'll have to see how it goes. This time i've found the tutorials myself

 

Is it any good?

 

What addition functions/perks does it have?

Blender is a rather complete 3d program which is free and capabe of rendering (A thing that sadly gmax cannot).

I tried it, but, frankly once you have tried 3ds max you are hooked! i have been using it ever since i tried it.

Cheers Mad, i've looked at purchasing 3dsmax but a over £2000? Thats a bit steep, did you purchase it or get it on your company (don't know what you do but you might have balgged it somehow) or by some other unmentionable means?

 

Also if I construct the model in gmax, can I then export it to Blender to render? (rhymes!) Or would it be worth more to just learn blender in the first place and forget gmax?

Eko, there are also student versions for max out there, that only cost ~150 Euros, the last time I checked.

 

After TK told me, that Max6 was pretty unstable I saved my money and continued with my old trusty version 5, though
