to just have a battle with, lets say, a platform, a star destroyer on the imperial side, and two Frigates on the Alliance side, both full of fighters and just duke it out ?

yes, d/l the map creater on the gco site, should be link on forums, allows you add anything you like per side just remember to change win conditiond to destroy all

extract the files, look in the folder you extract it to. look for a file called RVEMaps, it looks like a wordpad file. click that, it loads the map creator

have you tried to double click it?

 

*edit* others had problems with it, disable winrar or winace's .jar file association and let java run. hope this helps

now if i put the map name, lets say correllia, into the map name will I be able to play the map that way or does the level file need to be put somewhere in the serria file?

no, it uses a default map with no resources. You would need to edit the map file to change the background. Please dont ask how i have no idea.

yes its just a lvl file, however its a lvl file that has set fleets. You put it in the same place as any other map. load it, starting postions determin what fleets you use. load the map with warlords and away u go.
