Wanted:Trade Federation Battleship Model

Does Anyone have a model of this ship? :?: If not, can someone make one :idea: I would appreciate all replies and help. :D Been playing Rebellion since it came out and still play it often and have modded the game (with new character,troop,etc cards :twisted: ) and have included the Neomodians(Gunray) as characters. Thought it be neat to have a ship to use for the Empire and/or Rebellion. 8)

Hey if you can make one I will be most humble unto you. :lol: And yes the ships the Trade Federation used in Episodes 1,2 and 3. Droid control/Battleship. I can wait for a textured model not a problem. :wink:

What size as far as ship comparision are you going to make it? In ROTS Episode 3 it was just about the size of the Venator Star Destroyer.Which I would imagine is about the same size as the Victory or Imperial Star Destroyer. I think I also saw a post where you said you are making a Venator Star Destroyer :?: if so cool. Anyway enough ranting I need to go join the masses of millions snooozing away. Hear from you later man.

Yes yes...I would love to see this ship in battle in Rebellion.I like the multi role this ship plays. Like Battleship,Toop Carier, and Fighter Carrier as well as Droid Control which obviously cannot be used but is neat never the less. Anyway do you have a model or planned model of this ship? :?:

Okay, update on the ship. Finally found time to get down to it.

I use 3ds max but you could easily do the same thing in the free gmax(you just couldn't add that cool Nebula back ground :wink: )

Well actually the model is quite an easy one :) Its just long to make due to lack of decent reference pics.

If you want to make your own i suggest you:

1) Download Gmax or get 3ds max.

2) read Mask's Tutorials do get a bit of a grip of the interface

3) contact me by MSN and i shall guide you the rest of the way (or who knows :wink: you might not need guiding)

 

I am quite happy because the model is nearly fninshed and that the actual poly count is of only 1100 :D

I believe their are 5-6 different Cards that are available for this ship available in the Star Wars Episode 1 and 2 ship card areas. :wink:Just pick and choose.

And yes, there are quite a few Trade Federation Battleships in the card database.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Good question :?: with a valid point . I not sure what the answer is, but I would imagine someone's made a model for the game with a poly count close to the one as this one. I haven't used all the models available for the game, but I'm sure it will work. Only trial and error(testing it in Rebellion) will tell.

There doesn't appear to be any limit supllied by the engine. That being said there are noticable slow downs with higher poly models in greater numbers - though I've only noticed that in high numbers, and with high poly models (over 3k polys, and a fleet of over a hundred ships).

Keeping the model around 2 - 3k polys is probably the best idea for the game to keep it running smoothly at all times, assuming your fleets aren't huge.

Preferably, for real optimisation, is to create three models for each ship - as Rebellion supports a LOD. Which would almost garantee the game to run well with very large fleets if the "far" models were very low poly.

But that takes longer again to get one ship out and makes the file bigger :roll:

Back in the beginning, our former lead modeller Gank suggested a maximum of 10k polys for each model in Reloaded.

I don't think we have a lot, that even reach 5k, though :wink:

 

Btw, the one ship I released, that seemed to give most people trouble was the first version of the Home One, with over 55000 polygons :roll::lol:

JM's XWA version, that I later found only has 7000.
