Darth_Gonzo Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 wow, I'm 19 now, and I first got that game when I was (thinking) like 10 maybe anyone still play? What side? I was thinking of picking it up again as the Empire but I was never really good at it. Especially getting the hang of the thrust (full power, least maneuverability/33% power full agility) what were your settings? How'd you control your wingmates and how the heck could you automagically select your Leader's target instead of setting him to a hotkey, and then scroll through all targets to find his? My curiosity is piqued, lol (again) "I can feel your anger. It gives you focus. It gives you strength." - Nothing happens to Palpatine without him wanting it to...except getting thrown down that shaft ofcourse. Let's hear it for the Empire.
kaja Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Sometimes. Empire. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s152/Dave-Mastor/Cluster6.jpg
Mad78 Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 I found it fun but it got kinda repetitive in the end. There were so many commands to memeorise. Nothing a Saiterk X52[ can't beat http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Johngalt137 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I would play it more, but alas my joystick only doesn't connect to my "new" (ie only 5 year old computer), and I just can't imagine playing it with a mouse.
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted March 4, 2006 SWR Staff - Executive Posted March 4, 2006 XvT doesn't play with a mouse. That's one of the reasons I didn't get into it really... I'm old fashioned, I like classic X-Wing with mouse and keyboard Evaders99http://swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif Webmasterhttp://swrebellion.com/images/banners/swcicuserbar.png Administrator Fighting is terrible, but not as terrible as losing the will to fight.- SW:Rebellion Network - Evaders Squadron Coding -The cake is a lie.
General_Crespin Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 http://www.xwaupgrade.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=9&t=001111 If you play XvT, this is pretty much a must-have. Not sure where a direct download link is, somewhere toward the end is the newest release. http://crespin.xwlegacy.net/pics/Shadowkeeper99a.jpg
The_LandoStander Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 In any game where I have the option to pick my Civil War Era starfighter I will always take the A-wing. I've ridden with it since ther first X-wing game. I'm a sucker for the quick little fighter with no real shielding, unimpressive weaponry all for the sake of being the fastest little blip out there.
uber Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I had TIE fighter and was so ticked when it wouldn't work on my newer computers. My only fear is that Rebellion will suffer the same fate as systems start getting better and refusing to allow golden oldies. http://ge.swsimulation.com/icc4/images/ranks/army-navy/ME-1.gifRecruit Tork EmplaImperial Navy "He who angers you, owns you."
Celtic18 Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 A tip for older games: Right click and when the options window thingy opens go to the compatability tab and tick the correct box...Works perfectly on my computer
CDL_Undertaker Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I think it would be interesting if we hosted our own WoW for XVT...that would be fun...I'd be able to see if I can fly the old ships again: |-o-| (--o-o--) {-o-} _\|/_ o-0-o >-o-< 8-0-8 <:= or, then again, you guys will just detonate me from the sky.
Eagle Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 |-o-| (--o-o--) {-o-} _\|/_ o-0-o >-o-< 8-0-8 <:=Nice! Wait! That´s a Tie Fighter, a Tie Interceptor, Tie Bomber, Tie Advance (?), a Gun Boat, Y-Wing, X-Wing, B-Wing (?) and an A-Wing(?). Who cares at all?!
Master_Xan Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I personally always liked TIE Fighter better than XvT... never could get used to the joystick in either game, I much prefer the precision of a keyboard. It was the same when I played Descent too. Guess I just don't have a steady hand. A quick note on playing old games; use Dos Box. It's a Dos emulator program with a gazillion settings to make the game work (especially the music, which is always a bit tricky). Still having problems making it handle Return to Zork properly, but I think that's the only one I've tried that it can't seem to handle after a little prodding. Star Wars: Rebellion, A Field Manual"O be wise, what can I say more?"
Arcanewinds Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I generally played as a Tie interceptor online, got pretty good too. Shields are overrated, especially against AI, just spin as you're flying towards them and you're sorted (In head-head cases). X-wings were alright, if not a little sluggish at times.
