As for CS2 - well, my uni uses CS and the art's lecturer insisted we all aquire a working version, and that Photoshop 7 wouldn't cut it (don't know what was with that part, as CS is better though it's hardly revolutionary or THAT special let alone different ) . . . as such, all I could "find" (in the manor which best suits BS) was CS2. So it didn't really cost me anything

 

I'm going to have to play with its HD image functions now, my brother's already looking for a good still image to use his 20D on just to try out the new function

Now is this the Rebellion 2 we've been talking about for months now or is this something new? And if this is a new project, how much of the old Reb 2 stuff will be included or added to this new project?

It's not about the 'Rebellion 2' name - its about the abstraction that is 'Rebellion 2' - a game that can be a logical heir to Rebellion and provide the fun and addictive nature we've got for the original.

 

There have been several attempts so far, some with more promise than others.

I'm supporting this one, much of it due to the concept work we've seen so far. It is really inspiring - a great way to motivate people and keep them interested.

Thanks for the props too. Just in the short while we've gotten some great response for SW:GCW and should have lots of "inspiring" things to show very soon.

It's cool. No doubt LucasArts would never let us use the Rebellion 2 name for anything. It would be an instant product copyright problem.

 

So better to use Rebellion 2 as an inspiration of what this is, rather than an actual concrete name of a product

Well if they ban us from using the Star Wars part at all, then I think lots of games and sites will have problems

 

The worst I've seen is Lucas's team shutting down the Star Wars Combine, but it came right back up again in a few days. And I'm sure they haven't been forced to remove 'Star Wars' from their name.

Hey, there normally I would only read on this forum but this project really looks amazing.

Therefore I would like to volunteer to work on this project.

 

At the moment I'm studying to become a programmer so I think I could make a contribution to this ambitious project and off course I'm a huge SW Fan as well .

 

So what can I do?

- Photoshop (although you got enouf of those )

- PHP programming

- SQL

- Variaty of other programming languages.

It's currently in development. Due to the seemingly inevitable problems of limited help with this its virtually a solo project but tis actually moving along quite nicely.

Wow man, I am astonished (like the rest) at this game and it's progress so far. I would be more than willing to help beta test it. Unfortunately I cannot model, all I could do is help spot bugs and assist you with my knowledge of the star wars universe. But if you need help with anything that does not deal with modeling or anything then I could help.

 

Is there an ETA as to when it would be finished?

There is no ETA for the final product. But we should have an Alpha build ready by xmas. WE've had alot of trouble with people offering their help then disapearing but its been moving along quite well and it looks great so far!

Hi!

I had started on a similar project to this one and will gladly help out!

I am a Oracle DB administrator so I know a lot of SQL, I am a programmer aswell so any languages are just a matter of syntax for me.

Just name a language and I will relearn the syntax if I do not already know it!

I am A graphical engineer aswell, dealing in mainly static imagery (Photoshop) and web design.

Other than that, I am an internet professional aswell hence why I was involved in an internet mass multiplayer game.

Above all, I am a starwars fan!

Anyway, this is not as pie in the sky as some other members first thought!

This can be done, and it will be done well!!!

It has been done really well before, it is just a question of getting the engine right and mastering the database will enough to cope with such an application!
