NIIIC Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 To day, I saw one the French news that in New York, you can see SW fans that are camping in front of the cinemas to be the first ones in and they are since Friday 29th!!! Can you believe it? I can understand that people sleep the night before like when the PS2 came out, but ~3 weeks is, I think a bit much. I even saw a woman who left here job to go there. What do you think about that? Would you sleep ~3 weeks on a street to be the first to see that film? I suppose that must be what a real 100% dedicated fan is. And that make me think: I like SW very much and many people do. What makes SW so "attractive» and what is (nothing negative to be seen there) the image, message(s) that you get from SW?
Mad78 Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Well some people are mad N3C. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
kaja Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 I love starwars, but not that much. Good thing I live across the country from those kooks. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s152/Dave-Mastor/Cluster6.jpg
Mad78 Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 I frankly find the idea of buying your ticket in advance is better. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Skynxnex Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 I think one thing that a lot of people like about Star Wars when you get down to it is the fact that its not just a sci-fi movie..but also fantasy. Its something that people in some ways wish were true. Like for instance the ability to get on a star ship and go visit say Tatooine or if your so inclined to go to Kashyyk and see the massive forest. I mean I think that SW represents a universe of possibility, something a little more exciting than say what goes on here on boring ole Earth. The originals (ANH, ESB, and ROTJ) clearly show us who is good, and who is evil. The classic good vs evil story. Regardless how many times people try to blur the battle between good and evil, people love a story like that. SW represents in some ways the conflicts all of us face. For instance should we give ourselves over to our darker side, giving in to our anger and hate at the world or do we be responsible and try to be 'good people'. Thats what makes SW so cool. I know its just a movie, but Lucas uses a lot of symbiology in his movies. We know as soon as we see Vader in ANH when he gets on the ship that he is evil. The music and tone etc just give it away. The music is great, it really sets the mood for the movies very well. Overall though I feel that its the imagination, the idea that some day maybe we can leave Earth and go on our own adventure in the galaxy or something, I think that appeals to a lot of people. The idea that there is something greater than just what goes on here on our planet I think is what draws a lot of people on a subconscious level. http://img30.echo.cx/img30/2519/yodavspals4fr0gi.gif
Jahled Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 To answer your question very simply N3C dude, in 1977 my dad took me to a film unlike anything me or anyone had experianced before. The film opened with a space sequence the like of which no one had seen on the silver screen, and then that Star Destroyer completely engulfs the entire cinema with its rubble flying over you; all to a musical score by John Williams to suit the scene (blatently taken from Mars, by Holst) unlike anything previously in cinamatic history... and you know you are on a rollacoster ride. I guess that's why people spend three weeks camping outside cinemas having lightsaber fights and dressed as esoterical aliens or obscure Imperial Officers.... bless em... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif

BadSamaritan Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Overall, while I think those people are a little odd, I cant blame them. Star Wars is something that has gone far beyond what Lucas ever dared to dream. It literally has touched the lives of millions, and has a fan base that quite simply cannot be matched. The love that people have for Star Wars is astounding. The original trilogy is THE movie trilogy of the 20th century, and anyone who tries to argue that is blind. In my opinion, it will go down in history as being one of the best told stories of all time, if not the best. I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.
Darktrooper Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 The news (I'm here in NY) about the "Stand-a-thon" is real. But, this fans are standing in line for charity. The longer they stand, the bigger is the charity. The profits go to the "Starlight, Starbright Foundation". You should see the stormtroopers in-line there. Now, thats bizzare. "May the force be with the pizza guy. I want it in less that 30 mins or less." You can kill me later, thank you. I want you to join KoC.
NIIIC Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 Please, DT don't tell me you are there fore the same reason.

Darktrooper Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 ok... That movie woke me up. (I'm writing early for me) Now you guy see why I said that I'm not THAT fan. I love SW but not to the point of making an obsession. The weather is nice here. 68 degrees with light rain. The stormtroopers will be happy with this weather. "May the force be with the pizza guy. Krytos Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I got two wrong - the first question about the rumoured writter for Epidode III, and that's because I'm trying to leave as much as E3 a mystery as possible. So I had no idea there. The second one I got wrong was because it was towards the end and I wasn't reading the question completely. I saw Episode V, Han Solo and bounter hunter so instinctively put Boba down. Re-reading the question after getting it wrong keyed me into the question asking which bounter hunter wasn't there See, it pays to read things http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
