Paul Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 I was given TIE fighter disc, manual, and a joystick. My question is this, does anyone know if you can play this on an XP operating system? I looked through the old threads and didn't see this discussed before. Any help would be appreciated as I have never played this classic game before.-Grand Moff Conway
Mad78 Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 I managed to install it. If i remember well I used the DOS-Box emulator to make it play. I suggest you run a google search to see what fan sites say. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Guest JediIgor Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 First off, if it's the Windows disc (hook us up) it will work just fine, if it's a DOS disc, then you may run into some problems (I had trouble actually getting it to run after installing it). If compatibility mode fails, you can always use DOSBox! http://dosbox.sourceforge.net Actually the cool thing about it is that you can even run TIE Fighter in Linux (hehe).. I for one am having a good game of Ascendancy thanks to DOSBox (on Linux of course). Good luck, and hope your TIE Fighter works!
SOCL Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 I think this was asked in another thread, and Evaders provided a link to a patch that fixed the problem so the game works on XP. Of course, it's for the Windows 95/98 version of the game. SOCL: Putting the BE in BEAK.Read the Forum Rules - Welcome the New Members - Rebellion Reloaded -
Paul Posted April 3, 2005 Author Posted April 3, 2005 My disc must be DOS as it says IBM CD-ROM and Compatibles. How does DOSbox work Igor? Just wondering. -Grand Moff Conway
