I must agree on the point of Daala, she was written badly, and every time we saw her, she was having a "stupid moment" (except when she killed off the warlords and united the Fleet). It is interesting, though, to think that many refered to her as a "great strategist" when she proved the opposite time and again. I suppose when they say Daala was a "great strategist" they're saying those words amongst snorts, grins, giggles, and snickering (i.e. sarcasm). I do agree, though, if Daala is taken seriously, her time away from the Empire guarding a base that was not under threat of being attacked and then being promoted to Admiral through sex with a Grand Moff has its down-points.

To dig up an old thread, I found this in my newspaper today:

Star Wars Creator George Lucas has revealed that Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia may turn their talents to television following the release of the final Star Wars film next month.

Two Star Wars series will follow the latest hit movie in the hit film franchises.

Animated show Clone Wars, broadcasted in the US as three minute episodes, will become "a 3D animated" series of 30-minute shows, Lucas said.

It would be followed by a live-action series featuring characters from the six Star Wars movies.

"We're probably not going to start that for about a year," he told a Star Wars convention in Indianapolis.

The latest Star Wars film, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, is out in Australia on May 19th.

Lucas told the Celebration III convention the live-action TV series would be similar to Raiders of the Lost Ark spin off, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

"Like on the The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, we want to write all the stories of the entire first season all at once," he said.

He said the series woulf feature stories taking place between movie episodes three and four - Revenge of the Sith and the original Star Wars movie.

He said the live-action series would feature some existing Star Wars characers, but would not eleborate. No broadcasr dates have been announced.

Sounds interesting :)

Very interesting. The SW Universe time period between RotS and ANH obviously would GL to roam completely freely with his original vision I guess. The 'evil galactic Empire,' is in place, and the rebellion is simmering away....

That would certainly be a wise choice for him. Stepping into the EU would open him up to pissing off alot of fans. Doing the pre-ANH time period would draw in most of the Star Wars fans seeing as the Empire is what interests most people. He also wouldn't be forced to use any characters we already know and love (also a good thing. I don't want to see some one else playing Palpy or doing hte voice of Vader).

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Guest JediIgor
It says possibly involve Luke and Leia. :? I hope this doesn't turn out to be a bunch of 30+ year-olds playing little kids in some stupid drama called Mos Eisley 90210.

I could see Leia being involved, she lived on Alderaan after all (and was adopted by Bail Organa, right?), but if Luke is involved I hope he's just a minor character (because him getting out of Tatooine and doing stuff would be weird!) we see when some major character happens to visit Tatooine.

That's basically the fear I have. I mean, we have seen stranger things happen in Star Wars, but I'm basically worried that it'll be a series where Luke and Leia keep running into each other as kids, but never actually meet, and if they do meet, they never happen to talk about thier pasts. I can't think of the name of the TV series (or maybe it was a movie), but I watched something way back that sort of rung of that same idea and it really sucked. Basically, if it becomes a "What adventure will those two Jedi children get into this time?" sort of series and Vader is in it as the 'bumbling bad-guy' (wow, this sounds like Splinter of the Mind's Eye)...well...you know.

Luke bullseyeing Wamprats on Tattooine, or Leia growing up on a 'peaceful Alderaan,' would be to boring to imagine. I would prefer something darker akin to the excellent comic, Star Wars Empire, where we more or less get to see the true dark nature of the Empire.

The timespan would enable GL to make the final transition from the visual aspect of the Empire; ie: evolution of Stormtroopers, fighters, and capital ships, into what thundered onto the silver screen in 1977 (with such a rousing score) with that rather large Star Destroyer rumbling over head, and the onslaught of Stormtroopers...

I reckon further films shouldn't be ruled out however....

Well, if you think about it, any movie based on the Vong invasion, or whatever GL has envisioned, would place the original actors at hte perfect age, or at least they would appear the perfect age (except for Mark, who has unfortunately aged rather poorly).

God forbid! This entire leek and carrot invasion thingy has almost completely tuned me out of what little sense there was left in the EU...

This is the final paragraph of an interview with Geprge Lucas that appeared in today's Mail on Sunday RotS special (by Rob Waugh):

'They won't be any more films,' he tells me at Skywalker Ranch, the £100 million mansion he built with the profits from the series. 'I am closing the door on that. We are going to do television series, one animated, and some live-action. But they'll be spin-offs, letting smaller characters tell their stories. The main story is finnished. It was about Darth Vader. And he's dead. If I really wanted to cash in, I could, but to me that's not the point. To me this has all been just one story-a story that happened to last for twelve hours over a period of almost 30 years.'

Well, aged 33, that '12 hours' has more or less dominated my life, but I guess good stories must come to end. I must confess to my eyes swelling up over the breakfast table when I read this. The last time a work of fiction did this was finishing Bernard Cornwell's excellent King Arthur trilogy,(The Winter King, Enemy of God, and Excalibur), when closing the book was like loosing friends i'd come to know.

I must admit I also find it sad.

I fell a bit like when i watch LOTR The Return of the King. Its always sad to see the last episode of a series and think that there will not be any new movies.

Lucas Glad to Leave Star Wars Behind

http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=190745&GT1=6542

Millions of fans would love a third trilogy picking up after "Return of the Jedi," but Lucas said he has no story in mind and no intention of continuing the tale on the big screen.

The adventure will live on in an animated TV show and a live-action series Lucas has planned, set among minor characters from the films in the 20 years or so between the action of "Revenge of the Sith" and the original "Star Wars."

Actually I am glad no more movies will be made. As it is I didnt like the prequels really..some parts were cool and the fights and so on were neater but most of the acting was horrible...too many special effects and not enough character in the actors etc. I am hoping...HOPING that Revenge of the Sith will redeem at least in my eyes the prequels and close the overall story of Anakin on a good note. We will see. Everything I have heard about Sith so far has been nothing but good really so I think it will be a good movie. If it is, I will just attribute the 'poor quality' of the other prequels to Lucas simply setting the stage for this final movie which should hopefully be very good.

i'ld really like to see the thrawn series done with the original actors. The books were set in a period where the chars are about the age the actors are now. SO it could easily be done i think.

Frankly i always think it is better to finish a serie of movies well rather than like ST because you ran out of ideas.

A mad idea hitted me today. The only thing ST haven't done is a TV series that is centered in another race. Klingons came to mind.:roll:

"May the force be with the pizza guy. I want it in less that 30 mins or less."

You can kill me later, thank you.

I want you to join KoC.
