SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted March 3, 2005 SWR Staff - Executive Posted March 3, 2005 What browser do you use? Does this site display correctly? Should we work to have things fully compatible with these browsers? Stellar_Magic Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 I use Mozilla, unfortunately the card download system doesn't seem compatable with the browser, usually all I get is a bunch of numbers. SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted March 3, 2005 Author SWR Staff - Executive Posted March 3, 2005 I am using Mozilla Firefox 1.01 and it seems to show the Cards db correctly. Do you have any screenshots of what's happening? Stellar_Magic Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 I'm using Mozilla 1.7 (I think), and when I click on a card to download it, I get this. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/StellarMagic01/Error.jpg Forum and RPG Membership:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/StellarMagic01/RaporaWarsTC.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/StellarMagic01/RaporaWarsRPG2.jpg Signature:Sufficiently advanced technology would be indistinguishable from Magic. -Arthur C. kaja Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Netscape 7.2 works just fine for me.Except for cards... I use IE for that. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s152/Dave-Mastor/Cluster6.jpg
AdmiralFishface Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Firefox 1.1, no problems except for the blue border around the whole thing, it doesn't show on the right side and is a bit broken. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/RiesstiuIV/Krempel/trapaure.gif
Mad78 Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 I have Firefox.I sometimes have a slight problem when loading a page. What happens is that the font is over sized and different from normal. But i don't have that problem very often. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Guest JediIgor Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Where did you folks grab Firefox 1.1? I checked out http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ and the latest version is 1.0.1 :-\. Is that what you guys meant? Anyways, I'm using 1.0.1 too and it's working fine.. . I also advise (would it help if it was professionally advised as well? ) anyone using Mozilla or an older version of Firefox to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox, as the security updates in there are the latest and Mozilla hasn't been updated as vigorously as Firefox. Anyone using any other browsers should upgrade to their latest version (and if you are using IE.. well.. switch to Firefox ) as well.. hehe. Glad to hear none of the forum regulars seem to be using Internet Explorer though, though I wonder if we can say the same thing about our casual visitors! ======= Hmm, I checked out https://www.swrebellion.com/webstat/usage_200503.html and it looks like about 51.29% of our visitors were using Internet Explorer.. of course this includes evillejedi's Warlords site too (silly program, huh?) so the #s may be skewed a bit (as in there are more Firefox users than it says). I assume that this means we are moving towards a more standards compliance website and that support for older browsers will be slowly phased out .
Trejiuvanat Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 No problems except for the blue border around the whole thing, it doesn't show on the right side and is a bit broken. Firefox 1.01 and the same issue as above. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif

Mad78 Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Sorry, i meant Firefox 1.0.1.I once remember creating a thread asking which browser people used. I think Firefox got the majority but i ain't really sure. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Texas_Fett Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 I don't think I've ever used a browser other than IE. What's so great about Firefox? Mad78 Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Well basically its IE with: Tabbed browsing, greater security, more stability, an integrated google search box, a HEAP of extensions and themes downloadable for free,...Ahh yes, i nearly forgot, Its much faster than IE. Switch! It will only take you ten minutes to decide that you need never return to IE http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance

Not that I've done it or looked at it yet, but that's my gut instinct. Then don't trust your instinct, then. In addition to what everyoneelse has mentioned, Firefox has an integrated pop-up blocker, is much more customizable than IE, run fasters and prevents you from having dozens from open IE windows in the system bar, keeping them as organized tabs within one window. It's also a lot safer than IE (not that many security gaps (holes, craters?) as in IE. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Darth-Griffin Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Listen to the two webmasters. We speak the truth Firefox v1.01 is the safest browser on the market at the present time. It has none of the security holes of IE. From Firefox homepage > http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/central.html Is Firefox more secure than Internet Explorer? Yes, Firefox and all other Mozilla-based products are more secure. Why? Here is a list of the most important reasons: * It is not integrated with Windows, which helps prevent viruses and hackers from causing damage if they somehow manage to compromise Firefox. * There is no support for VBScript and ActiveX, two technologies which are the reasons for many IE security holes. * No spyware/adware software can automatically install in Firefox just by visiting a web site. * Firefox doesn't use Microsoft's Java VM, which has a history of more flaws than other Java VMs. * You have complete control over cookies. http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2350/darth1b3bu.jpgVisit the forums > The Galactic Core Forums
Krytos Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 I've been wanting to upgrade from IE to Firefox, though I just can't be bothered. Using IE is just simpler for me at the moment, no hasles of trying to get use to a new browser and no problems with any sites. If you do get Firefox, isn't there a bug that makes it slower than other browsers? I could have sworn there was a thread regaurding this issue somewhere, as well as a fix . . . EDIT: Found it, here http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif

EDIT: Found it, here That wasn't a bug, that was a feature to turn on http pipelining, not available in Internet Explorer, it makes your surfing faster because it uses experimental features (which means a lot of websites don't support it). I tried it a little bit, then had to stop using it cause it wasn't working with Gmail. If you can't be bothered to upgrade, that's ok, but all my websites work fine in Firefox, and here is the direct download, click install, you're done:http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.0.1&os=win&lang=en-US

Lord_La_forge Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Currently browsing the site in MacOsX with Safari. The forum looks like crap. There are bright-blue borders and fills everywhere on the table, hat are not visible on my PC at all... The quoted lines are also blue colored. Even it's background. Strange.
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted April 13, 2005 Author SWR Staff - Executive Posted April 13, 2005 Note that Firefox does have security concerns as well. There's already fixes from 1.02, as well as some other security issues that have not been fixed yet. It is not perfect software, so use common sense when online. Always have to keep your software updated to be safe - even Windows and IE updates.
