Chevy_Camaro Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Im sorry i know this has been asked many times, but i was not able to find a fix in all the current threads. i rarely play out the battles myself, but it seems that i often crash when i hit the simulate battle button. it comes up with a screen saying the program has encoutered an error or whatever. i use XPi have an ATI 9800xt (that seems like its been a problem in the past... my drivers are roughly 1/2 year old) anyways im sorry to ask but its very annoying to have to save after each battle
Krytos Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I'm not sure if a solution was found. I've had a simular problem with the two computer I use. For me it's actually after a simulated battle, though it doesn't happen all the time.I run XP on both systems, my main computer is an 64bit 3000+ XP, 1 gig or RAM and a 9800 Pro. The other system is a laptop with Mobile Pentium 4 1.9 GHz, 256 Mb of RAM and some Radeon Mobility Card - nothing special though. Both Computers have the same crashing problem, and I've played it on a friend's computer that was a P3 running Win 98 and still had the crashing problem. I'm hoping someone finds a soultion, though I've got no-idea http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
Chevy_Camaro Posted February 20, 2005 Author Posted February 20, 2005 i tried launching from the LucasArts folder, i managed to play roughly 7000 days (i was playing on fastest mode for a few hours.) no crashes... perhaps launching from the AutoRun is my problem?
Skynxnex Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Out of curiousity I am wondering if you have set up the rebellion exe file to be played in a win-98 compatibility mode or not. I find sometimes with my older games by doing that they run better and are in general more stable. http://img30.echo.cx/img30/2519/yodavspals4fr0gi.gif

Could you outline how one can do this, and a brief low down of why it might be better for older games? http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif

Skynxnex Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 As Chevy has stated, sometimes it can make games that were designed for Win 98 and lower for them to run ok...sometimes. http://img30.echo.cx/img30/2519/yodavspals4fr0gi.gif
