white washed starfields ???

i tried the game with a 8500LE, some maps appeared white washed ... the starfield background is gone

 

re-run the game with a 6600GT tried a few tweaks here and there, worst. 19 out of 20 maps turn up white washed.

 

did i miss something or what?

 

original higran + vag map + units turn up as per normal in the above same configs.

this is a video driver issue, I don;t know which drivers work or not, but it has something to do with how the drivers handle glows (I use like 55 series dets)
