Naturally, my disc is pretty scratched up, and it gives me problems when I play an in-game cutscene.

Back when I played on the Zone, I used to use a little gem of a program with Windows 98. "CD Copier Gamer's Edition". Great little program. I'd get the CD image straight to the hard drive, and play away. Problem is it does not function with Windows XP.

Is there any other way to go about playing Rebellion completely from the hard drive?

With todays's technology you have the option of using a CD recorder of making a copy of the game for your personal use given you already own a genuine copy of the game. This will save you the utter horror of experiance of hearing your beloved Rebellion Disk die in your E-Drive.

This is a very legal use of using a CD recording facility.

You are, however not at liberty to give this copy to anyone, even on the context 'Hay, it's a cool game! Try it out! See what you you think!' That would be against international law and according to Microsoft or Lucasarts cause a dimensional rift in the fabric of neutral probability drives which lie dormant in small inconsequentianal orange fish...

But yes there is; forgotten the exact detail, but you create a virtual drive...hopefully one of the clued-up will pick up on this...

 I hope that applies to me.

Jahled already said all the legal stuff and I can only say, that to the best of my knowledge this will work with your original cd:

You need to make an image of your disc with software like CloneCD, Nero, ... and mount that with the Daemon tools. Then you need to install the game again from that virtual drive. If you want to retain your settings, cards, ... copy the contents from your old Rebellion dir into the new one. Mainly you need the dlls and the EDATA folder.

I call poodoo on this statement. I have never seen any orange fish with that engine installed in them.

That, and with all the uploading I do to torrent sites, I alone should have blown up the world by now if that staement was true anyhows.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

I've had the same CD for the longest time. Thats part of the problem. Its all scratched up and the game often freezes and does weird stuff during cut-scene playback.

Anyone have a difinitive suggestion?

Hmm, well a scratched CD shouldn't have that effect on the game (unless you haven't installed everything onto your hard drive) since the game doesn't actually use it while you are playing. Before I could copy my CDs to my computer I would often remove my Rebellion CD and replace it with something more entertaining music wise, like Bach or Chopin. Any who, if you are having problems with the game's performance, I suggest you look to your hardware first... unless you are running it on a 386 with a 2 GB harddrive  .

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

That's because your government covers up the truth and denies knowledge...:lol:

You can also make a CD "image" with any CD recorder program such as the aforementioned above (I myself use and suggest Alcohol 120%).

Then you will be able to "mount" (in essence being able to access your CD through a drive letter as if it was an actual CD drive!) your image (using Alcohol 120%, or the free Daemon Tools).

Good luck and may this help you with your cd problems :)
