That model looks awesome. Well done! For which kind of game is this?

 

There´s a guy who is called an artist and who is living just a couple of meters from my house away, where he also has got his workshop. There are lots of sculptures stored of which you can´t be sure what it looks like. I never considered to call that arts and never believed that there´s anybody who buys his stuff. But yesterday I´ve read the newspapers and it looks like that this guy and his team won a competition for ice-sculptures in Colorado. Of course with an abstract sculpture, while others rather tended to build elephant-heads and other nicer things.

Call me ignorant, but I just could recognise that it´s a bridge after I´ve read it.

If youre wondering why there are so much people sitting around it. Theres an open air cinema currently and Ive got the noise from there all evening. The bell which rings before any movie starts is quite enjoyable especially when it rings for the late night show. Oh, dont worry. There is not one single cool movie you can watch there. Its mostly some womens movies. You know that Glen Close with Jeff Daniels kind.

 

Can you see these blue things around that building? These are some of his infamous sculptures. You can make a guess what it is.

Ah, good to know Mad - now I know what your program can do.

When it comes to taking the UVWs and creating a texture from them, Max (finally) has an inbuilt function. Once you've set up the UVWs with the Unwrap modifier, go into the EDIT mode and I believe under the Tools section of the tool bar there's the option to render the UVW. It should be labelled something like Render Template, Render UVW - something to that effect. I'm 90% sure, of which ever menu it's under, it's at the bottom.

Click that, and you'll be given a new dialogue window that will allow you to render out what you see in the EDIT view, so you can directly paint onto the UVW's in Photoshop or whatever with ease. It gives you the ability to render out at different resolutions - whether or not you choose a square aspect ratio (which is a must if you're doing game models). A choice of what gets rendered in a sense of just a wire frame, shaded faces, normals etc. Whether overlaying faces are show and some other options.

Very useful to use before getting into the actual texture making part.

I already discovered the render template bit and am using it for the ship.

 

I must say what i find most amazing in the 2009 version is how they have totally changed the viewport navigation system. Well I guess its not so much change than drastically improve.

Well, nothing that impressive, but I've updated my Roman website. It includes some new photos and up to date info.

Today they´ve got a special event on one of our german tv channels. It´s all about the romans. There was also an interesting docu about "Conondrum" a small garrison town outside of the roman empire. They´d also got lots of scenes with costumed guys and also a very small roman cohort which acted quite realistic in behaviour. I wonder if that was SOCL´s group which had the honour to appear in that documentary. SOCL! Lurk-mode off!

Ta. It was based on a weird shot of a pig crossing a road with it's ears over its eyes. Lurt is a weird word/name my brother has been throwing around for a while and it got applied to this guy due to the goofy look it has, Lurt the Lurtle.
