dinochick Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Has anyone seen the Lord of the Rings:Return of the King extended version yet? What did you think? Did you think that it was better? http://www.dinochick.com/dc_saber_banner_02.gif
Krytos Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 I've got it, thoguh I'm yet too watch it Though judging from the earlier two, I'd say the extended scenes are going to pretty good. Escpecially if it's like The Two Towers. Hmm, I might have to watch it tomorrow http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 I haven't seen it yet, but I'm in agreement with Krytos. The previous two were much better, in my opinion, with the extended scenes. I read the books first, so I was somewhat mortified when I saw how much was cut from the movies. My dad will probably buy the extended trillogy boxed set, so I'll have to plan a visit to watch them . History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Guest Scathane Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Which exactly were the extended scenes in The Fellowship of the Ring, btw?
Trejiuvanat Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 There are some elves walking in the woods, in the earlier parts of the movie. After Frodo is wounded at Weathertop, Aragorn and the hobbits find Bilbo's stone - Trolls. The Council of Elrond was extended, including Gandalf speaking in the black tongue of Mordor. There a scene of Galadriel giving each of the members of the Fellowship their presents. Those are the ones I remember, I may have missed a few. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Guest Scathane Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 It's been a while since I saw the original version, you see... So when I recently watched the extended version, I couldn't determine which scenes were new... I had a feeling that the scenes you mention were new but I wasn't sure. Are the other extended version good as well?
Mad78 Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 I am going to wait for a pack with all the extended versions to come out and then i shall leap at it http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Krytos Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 I just finished watching the xtended version, and I thought it was a lot better than the non-extended. I don't want to say much more, as not to spoil any of the added scenes, except that I recomend getting it if you're a fan of LotR http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
Skynxnex Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 I saw the extended version of King this weekend. It was overall pretty good. I just think that they dragged the movie on a little too much after the Ring was destroyed. I know the books are long but I mean after the Ring was destroyed the rest of the movie is pretty much anticlimactic. http://img30.echo.cx/img30/2519/yodavspals4fr0gi.gif
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Alas that is how the books were too... well, other than the whole "destruction of the Shire" thing... and runnign into Sauroman (sp?) on the road. Overall, I though the orignial cut of the movie rapped up rather quickly. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Trejiuvanat Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 I am going to wait for a pack with all the extended versions to come out and then i shall leap at it Click me. I'm hoping that ROTK extended will be waiting for me under the ChristmasTree... * Scath, I own the TTT extended, and I like it more than the original theatrical release, it has some nice scenes that tie it better to the books and to the third movie, plus it elaborates a bit on the Aragorn - Eowyn romance. *Subject to the interpretation of the subliminal messaging to parents and sister... http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Guest Scathane Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Funny, isn't it? How the books don't really elaborate on the romance between Arwen and Aragorn and the original movies don't really elaborate on the romance between Eowyn and Aragorn...
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Really? While reading the books I got the impression that at one time there was something between them. Then agian, it has been some time since I've read the books. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 But what is there to elaborate on? They have a romance, her father doesn't agree with it because it would mean she would have to become mortal, she doesn't care, they hook-up in the end. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Trejiuvanat Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 You weird Europeans and your Zone 2 stuff... Get a Multi-Zone player. I found it in German but not in French or whatever weird language you might find in that icecube in the Alps that you call home. EDIT: Cliquez-moi What about now? http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 I've never really understood why Europe uses a different coding/decoding system for their DVDs and televisions. There may not be a difference for the DVD image quality, but I find that, on the whole, European TV shows are of a lower image quality than American shows. Just a little off topic, but I though I'd add my two credits. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Guest Scathane Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Well, you just may have missed the fun and games when DVD's were still a novelty but DVD manufacturers have agreed on zoning the entire world, not just Europe, as this will show you.
Trejiuvanat Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Yeah, but there are, at least in Latinamerica, no Zone 4 DVD players, instead they are all Zone 1 & 4 DVD Players. And then DVD Player manufacterers developed Multi-Zone DVD Players... BTW, IIRC European image quality was higher than US one. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Mad78 Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 Thanks for the info Trej!!! The zoning was supposed to fight illegal importation but with the devellopement of multi-zone players it doesn't really mean anything. I use my PS2 with DVD Region-X to watch imported stuff. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Skynxnex Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 I saw the extended version of ROTK. Overall the extended scenes were nice, my only complaint with the movie really is that after the Black Gate battle its still like another half hr before the movie ends. The movie was rather long to begin with and well movies...there is a point where you need to end it...we already know the movie is different from the books. Oh well...just my 2 cents. http://img30.echo.cx/img30/2519/yodavspals4fr0gi.gif
Guest JediIgor Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 I'm still waiting for the high definition version of the DVDs.. same with the Star Wars Trilogy.. hope they release it soon before the movies' special effects become obsolete .
